we had a flkat in holland which was infested with mice - running across floor when we were watching tv, getting in the breadbin, being spotted in kitchen etc etc!!
We got an ultrasonic/electromagnetic plug in piece of kit for about E30, and it worked!! Took a few weeks to be entirely mouse free, but they went!!0 -

I have just seen amybirds piccie and I think she may be a green finch canary. I have a bird that looks just the same, Chico was sold to me as one! He is a beautiful singer. So far as I know only boy canaries sing so if amybird sings you might need to change her name!
Amy is a very quiet bird. She was recently drowning _pale_ and she didn't even shout for help then! She's named after Amy Winehouse, as she looks like she's on drugs. She likes sunbathing, baths, and Wilkinson's canary seed. She hates early mornings and hugs.
She was sold to my friend as a canary, but she looks nothing like the all yellow ones that sing. She's pretty in her own little way, thoughMurphy's No More Pies Club #209

Oh dear poor little amybird!
I think you can get all sorts of types of canary, they don't all have to be yellow....Chico is green too but you can get bright red ones! If she is very quiet then I think she is a girl, you are right about them being mad though! Chico does not like cuddles either and makes it known by attacking me every time I put my hand in the cage! He loves his baths too but most of all he likes having music on, every time I put some on (even Amy Winehouse) he sings at the top of his voice, when I turn the music up so I can hear it he just sings even louder! He also loves millet seeds and apple.
They are lovely little birds, quite funny sometimes!0 -
At one point, I had 3 of those electromagnetic thingies plugged in and they were of absolutely no use whatsoever in ridding the house of mice. Only the good old conventional snap traps worked (well, that and the neighbours who caused the infestation moving out!).
I think the electronic devices may be effective in deterring mice from coming in but they seem pretty useless if the little blighters have already moved in.0 -
I'd rather not kill them if at all possinble
. I prefer to deter them from coming in at all, which ahould be feasible if I start soon before they take hold.
I had one of those, they take about 3 - 4 weeks before you start to see a difference, and they don't actually stop the mice coming in the house, just settling.
The ultra sound makes them feel 'itchy' and they won't nest/breed etc. Mine worked for a while, then the mice came back. Not noticed any since I put poison down.Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!
