So they were £15.99 each when my nephew brought them but I saw them on sale for £6.99 each and was debating buying jsut the knuckles one but thought my little boy knows there is ment to be 3 of them so he might nag for the other two but then what if the shop doesnt get them in again - so i brought all three and they are stashed away nowTime to find me again0 -
Too much!!!!!
DD only wants a Wii so went and bought it 3 weeks ago with 4 games. Grandma has bought her Wii play so that's her done. Was going to get it from Argos as I had some vouchers but they were out of stock everywhere locally already . OH is getting to share it though but he's not getting the huge telly that he's asked for to play it on even though he was drooling over them again today when we went to get our breadmaker :rotfl:
I bought her DS in October last year and got great pleasure smiling smugly at my boss who left it too late.
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Well my two don't want much. Which you may think is good but I have to get them something!
DD1 wants some hair straighteners, not fussed which but I'm getting them for her birthday (November) and the Step-up DVD set. She wants an Ipod nano which by some miracle I won  so she only needs a voucher thingy for it - £25
She has wanted a playboy miss november necklace for 2 years now and that aint going to happen - EVER!
DD2 want some light things to go on her bike spokes about £14 from argos and a nintendo DS, which I'm worried she won't play with as she don't play with her gameboy advance anymore
I just don't know what to get them.0 -
Just popping by from the mortgage free wannabie board; our daughter will be 11 early December and of course is now fairly clued up on pricing. In fact today her new bike was purchased ahead of her birthday because she has grown so much over the summer she really can't stay on her old bike any longer...
However, in the past from about 5 or 6 onwards we always sat with her and talked about how many weeks pocket money it would take to buy things; so a £30 Xmas present would take 10 weeks to save up for. It just helped her to understand prices and then to think whether she then thought what the item could do was good value. It's never too early to talk about prices and educate them as to what adverts are about; why they are on in kid's programmes, why there are more in the autumn, what the company wants to get from you. Worked well.....
....so today the call from the store from DD was "Dad, the bike I preferred is now reduced by £55 and you also get £20 of free accessories, so it is good value"; a future MSE member I think0 -
My kids want lots of things but don't expect to get them which I think is perhaps the difference. My DD wanted some bratz dolls - fine they were half price in Tescos and Wilkos so sorted. My DS is getting a wii fit (which I had vouchers for most of it) between Xmas and birthday (shortly after Xmas) and then wrap ups. For his birthday he will get wraps ups and a couple of CDs or DVDs he and DD have been told if they want anything else to write it down and I will try and get the other relatives who buy for them to buy it. Job done... I wouldn't feel OP I had to buy all 3 things my children wanted myself but I would try and get relatives to buy them...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

When we were kids we were always corrected if we said 'i want' to anything, it was to be 'I would like' and it was not to be expected that we would actually get it. Was always told that fc had a lot of people to visit and couldnt always bring the things we would like. We made a wee wish list of things we would like. Never did us any harm, I dont recall ever being disappointed about any of the gifts I got, but I dont recall there ever being anything I overly 'wanted' big time either. I was always happy with what I did get
Cant stand kids saying i want x, y z

Sammy, don't know if this is any good to you but I bought Transformers Armarda (sp?) volume 1 DVD in Asda for £2 this week. Transformers Animated toys are half price in Tesco at the mo so £5 and £10 depending on the toy. We've stocked up on these for Xmas as DS1 is Transformer mad!
Good luck! If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

They are older now, one doesn't trust banks but has learnt to save his money to have the holidays/clothes/CD's he wants and make his wages last the month, and the other is a massive saver.Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. It's really hard, isn't it; I dont' want to be a mean mum but I don't want my children to have everything they quite like the look of either ... which is why, this year, we're not doing Christmas lists at all. We're all happy to 'leave it up to Santa'. I got fed up of granting the most sensible wishes of my two when their friends were getting absolutely everything on their Christmas lists (which incidentally were as long as their arm)That's Numberwang!0

My DH has a 7 year old DGS who reads the Screwfix catalogue for present inspiration and announced last time we saw him that he would love a chainsaw for Christmas...his Dad said no LOL0
