Sammy I keep thinking this! We are now almost sorted for our son who is 6 but our daughter will have the same money wise but only a few presents. I buy bits and bobs all through the year and although sometimes he changes his mind I mostly know what he will want etc. :)

Actually i usually faint at what darling hubby wants... Like this year it's a Dive Watch... proper one not a waterproof normal watch :)
He'll use it maybe once a year - probably less now Bean is on the way. Me? Rarely wish for anything big - I ask him for cheapie things or one year I asked for diamond earrings and bracelet and pointed him towards some nice but not exceedingly expensive ones... they were not what I got - I found the receipts and they cost TWICE what the ones I showed him did! ARGH! Don't get me wrong they are lovely and I wear them all the time - well I want to get his moneys worth out of them!
However I dread to think about how much he'll be wanting to spend on Bean... He'd merrily spend hundreds on the little bundle of trouble without thinking about whether it's likely to ever get played with again after Christmas...

Any one elses kids ask for lots of stuff they have no intention of buying??

I have already told them both they are only getting 1 present from FC this year (rock band & bike) + stocking and a few bits from us.
We have always told them that f.c gives us a bill and we have to pay for everything they get.

I bought a few dr who bits in the boots sale in Jan so ds1 will be making do with those. Just need to get ds2 a few wrap ups + his bike.

My kids were pretty good with their 'wish lists' - been a few years back now I know but they wrote down what they wanted but always knew they wouldn't get it all..............but they'd get something from their list...........often it was the cheapest thing !
