TBH, it's not like you need skills to be an EA, I mean like take time for book study or learn a trade skill. You just need to be greedy and sly. So not sorry for them!

Not me. They're horrible jumped-up little oiks. Their days as property pimps are over, they need to go out and get proper jobs like the rest of us

... However, my dark side comes out to play occasionally and i have to chuckle- wandering around town in the week one of the estate agents had a huge poster up in the window:

NOW REALLY IS THE TIME TO BUY!

BUY NOW BEFORE PRICES GO UP AGAIN!

(Is this HIHMs branch i wonder?)
Seriously, those exact words. I laughed out loud, then felt a little bad as 3 agents desperately jumped up as the phone rang.... ...

Was it your dark side that caused you to stand outside with your mobile phone calling to make them all jump? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
    To dissolve the people
    And elect another?

so no I don't feel a damn thing for them.

Like everything, worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Stereotypes aren't necessarily true you know, and I feel sorry for anyone who is going through a hard time at the moment through no fault of their own.

But if I had to have a bet on who won't suffer? Politicians; I'm sure their expenses will carry on being paid regardless.

Seen a few estate agents on tv programs, they are having a very bad time in house sales which has totally collapsed, some are now relying on their lettings business or house sales which were in pipeline months ago.
  • They make my skin crawl. If one of them ever touched me I'd want to wash myself in Ajax.

Tbh this will sort them out as I mentioned before the weak players are going down like flies. The ones that stay afloat (not franchise) use their heads will be the ones to use in the future, locally owned type businesses.
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.
  • haha, its a dog eat dog world. They enjoyed the good times while they lasted. Life is hard, you have ups and downs.
    No sympathy from me.
  • As an Estate Agent, I don't think we should receive sympathy any more or less than than the rest of the population. These are very difficult times for everyone.

I agree, that for many years it has been a very luctraive industry and many estate agencies have seen the benefits. In a tougher market, we're attempting to offer a good service, with low sales and high advertising costs. I know many out there might find it laughable that I included good service in that sentence, but truly, we're not all the type with Armani suits and flash cars with pushy attitudes. Problem is lots of sellers out there thinks that's what sells houses and that's why they're still out there. For all the complaints about agents, isn't it possible that if some sellers weren't blinded by the suit and the posh, generally put on, accent - and actually used down to earth, friendly, capable agents, then the industry would improve?

Hi I've just sold and bought in a volatile market. I've met some really horrible agents including my own who at the last minute tried to double his fees...However, I've also met some really decent agents who I would happily recommend to anyone.

They are just sales people on the whole. I think selling and buying a home is an emotional thing anyway - just because the whole market is going belly up doesn't make them bad people.

Most of us, including agents, are just trying to earn living.
