  • I've looked at monsoon dresses and they are gorgeous but its what you want at the end of the day not what anyone else wants if you wanted to get married in a asda bag im sure your H2B will still love you in it :D

Ooh..where did you find this? It sounds exactly like what I'm looking for!

My dress is not from Monsoon, but it's that type of thing. It's not a wedding dress, but it is a lovely posh frock, in ivory, ankle length, empire line, tie back and lots of beading.
It's not my usual thing, wouldn't normally be seen dead in a pale coloured dress, and I don't normally like empire lines either, but I look and feel great in it!!
It cost me £31, reduced from £85. Who cares if I never wear it again at that price!?
I too have plenty of time before I get married, but I have no doubts that the dress I have will do the job beautifully.

If you love it and feel comfortable in it then it ticks all the boxes. You could end up with a 'proper' wedding dress that doesn't suit you at all!

That's what put me off Monsoon dresses, I was all set to get one in the January sales but they mostly seem to be strapless, or in styles that wouldn't suit me/fit me round the chest region IYSWIM!

I have got a very weddingy wedding dress and sometimes I wonder if it's too weddingy for the type of day I was aiming for. That probably makes no sense but just shows sometimes we're never satisfied. Don't get me wrong, I love my dress to bits, I just thought I'd end up with something simpler.
Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

I like many of you also have a Monsoon dress. Mine was reduced from £160 to £48 in the sale. I too think every now and then that it is not a traditional type of wedding dress and see other peoples dresses from wedding pictures as lots of people I know hve been getting married. Doesn't help that mine is gold either lol.

However I am just remembering that by spending just £48 on my dress is freeing up more money for all the little things that really make the wedding special.

I am sure you look beautiful in your dress!

We witnessed a wedding in St Lucia this year. The bride had a dress from Monsoon, and it was gorgeous!
(Can't show you the pictures I'm not sure how to do it!)
But we were very impressed. She looked fantastic.
If you like it, you wear it!

It's this one, the picture doesn't show much I'm afraid, although you can zoom in on what picture there is... £42.50 now it seems. http://www.jdwilliams.co.uk/productcache/JDW/BO6558/AG590VC.html.gz

I only ordered it out of curiosity, I had no intention whatsoever of wearing anything even near to white, but I'd been getting the feeling that my husband-to-be would rather like it if I did, so I was just seeing how I'd look in a pale colour really...
When it arrived I thought it looked awful, almost didn't bother to try it on! Thank goodness I did though, It felt great straight away, before I'd even seen it in the mirror.

My one biggest piece of advice to anyone buying a dress for any occasion is:
Try on anything and everything, especially things you wouldn't normally try, as you may well be surprised!

This is the exact problem I had. Pity, as Monsoon have some lovely dresses.

Why are all dresses in the shops at the moment sleeveless?
