Hi
Looking for a deal on electricity for my mum and dads business. Ideally they want a 3 year (or more but can't seem to find anything more than that) fix. So far, this is the best on I've found. It is through a guy at the 'Business Advice Centre' and he has given a deal as follows:
E.on 3 year fix. Fixed charge at 26.38 per quarter and 12.40 per unit kwhr. Total price over three years £5896.56. I have worked out their consumption and they use about 15,000 units of electricity a year. Dual fuel is not an option as they are not on gas due to the location.
Anyone help or can advise me of any good business comparioson sites, Martin's blog on utilities doesn't really tell me anything!
Thanks

I am a commercial energy consultant , DO NOT fix for 3 years
take a decent one year offer, because prices are falling and next years renewal prices will be cheaper
Type energy broker in goggle and you will find several , my advice is use a member of the UIA http://www.uia.org.uk/0 -

I'd thank both of you but the thanks button has gone
I've checked lots of 1 year deals now. Eon online, U-Switch/Energy helpline, SWALEC. The best deal I had based on 15,000 units per year was suprisingly British Gas, infact the Energy Helpline said that he had no idea how they were doing it so cheap and that there must be a clause. This is what British Gas told me:
9.53 per unit @ 15,000 units per year = £1,42.950
36.3 standing charge per day @ 365 dats = £132.50
Total £1562.00 for the year. This seems quite cheap because the next cheapest is Eon at £1744, 11.07 per unit and 31.95 standing charge per day. Checked with British gas, no clauses, includes d/debit, no penalty if leave after one year, doesn't matter if go over 15000 units, anything else I should be checking before I committ?0 -
Is this quote direct through British Gas?
I am at present with N-Power for my electrickery contract due for renewal early next year.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -

Just remember price is only one factor to consider when deciding which supplier to agree a contract with. What you need to do is get a copy of the terms and conditions of the contract and make sure you understand them and are happy to be legally bound by them before you agree to anything. Have a look at the threads on this site for e4b (electricity4business) to see what happens when business consumers agree contracts without first reading or understanding the T&Cs.
Business consumers don't have the same protection as domestic consumers
Once a business consumer agrees a contract (a verbal agreement is as legally binding as a signed agreement - except for the purchase of land and certain hire purchase or credit agreements) there is no cooling off period unless the supplier specifically offers this facility, and very few suppliers do. If you agree to a contract without reading the T&Cs and you subsequently find that there is something in them that you don't like, it will be too late to do anything about it and the supplier will hold you to the contract.
The main problem for business consumers is that they don't know what happens when the contract is coming to an end and mistakenly assume that it is the suppliers responsibility to tell them what they need to do.
The majority of gas and electricity business contracts are "evergreen" or "rollover" contracts which means that they are automatically extended when the initial contract period ends (at whatever price the supplier is prepared to offer) unless the correct termination notice is given by the consumer as per the T&Cs of the contract. Each supplier has different termination notice T&Cs so it is vital that these are read and understood before any agreement is made.0 -
