It won't do any harm especially if it supports continuation of the current award. They do like to see info which is up to date but as the current award was 4 years ago it would be useful for them to see a report from only 10 months ago.
I'm assuming you let them know about the recent diagnosis of autism on the renewal form?
If you are involved with any support groups or have a social worker or any other professional help, letters from these will also be helpful.

the report i have was a letter the pediatrican wrote to education to support our case to get our son into the special needs high school,it was written in december last year,as education were refusing to send him to this school, the pediatrican who wrote it was with my son for 6/7 years, and only handed him over to the new one in jully as he was starting high school, but it lays out all his disabilties and how severe they are,as i said the new pediatrican wasnt with him until 3 months ago,so doesnt really know him, will dla object to me sending this letter?as they say reports have to be upto date(no more than 6 months old)but if i sent it off this weekend they would get it hopefully before the doctors report arrived,as he no doubt got his letter same time as us?It won't do any harm especially if it supports continuation of the current award. Hi peediedj,
If youare worried, could you make an appointment next week to see your GP and discuss this? Explain that you are worried and have received a letter from the DLA stating that they are sending for a report from the GP. If your son sees the GP on a regular basis and knows your son it should be fine, but there is no harm in speaking to your GP. Perhaps your GP will send the letter you have from the specialist in with his/her report to support your case.
When I reapply for DLA I have always put on the form to contact my GP in the section "name the person who knows your condition best" (or something like that) but it is only after my last renewal that I received a letter from the DLA saying that they had sent for a report from my GP. I was awarded two weeks later and they had increased the care element!
Try not to worry too much, but I know from my own experience that it plays on your mind. Hope it works out fine for you.0 -

cheers mate yes wifes making a appointment to see gp next week(if she can hes very populart and sometimes you have to wait weeks) also going to send report from last paediatrcian myself in the post today so hopefully gets there before gps report,as if i wait to long for a appointment with gp,he could have sent report off and they then wont consider paediatricans report, reading other peoples experiecnes it seems to me dla contact gp,s in majority of renewal cases,so not so worried now
