if we dont look after our own money and worries.... I doubt the government would be bothered. We put our hard earned cash not on a bet. It was a FSA regulated institution.

I am very closely following FACEBOOK, moneysupermarkt, www news, and moneysavings experts!!

We all ICESAVERs, should gather up. I am hearing constantly that there are ~300,000 icesavers. However, if you see the actual no. of ppl reading these threads... it is very low. I wonder what ppl are doing then??

I will also wait by monday. And if there is no SOLID lifeline for us... I think, we shud go and knock no. 10 Downing street.... or atleast do something!!!!

thats what I have being saying about getting the help of Martin -if nothing happens this weekend in terms of FSCS update which was promised end this week and also quote "an accelerated payout"

if no new this weekend we all need a united action and protest regards this payout and we should send an e-mail to Mr Darling whose address is

darling@parliament.uk

we can not afford to let this drag on when he promised that all icesavers would be paid out -it seems now to beingh totally forgotten and typical political bull

Really all this guff about "how lucky we are we're getting anything back" and "not a single person has lost a penny" is beginning to wear thin. Some one has got our money and must be doing something with it, like probably making more money, yet we can't access it for god knows how long. It's like having your new Merc delivered and not having the keys, the neighbour's got them and drives it when he likes for the next 6 months and to rub salt into the wound he flicks you the two fingered salute as he fires it up!
True you haven't lost the car but you certainly can't do anything with it, its value is depreciating and you're going to incur additional unnecessary travel costs.

Just a minor correction as there is a letter missing from the email in your posting.
The email address is darlinga@parliament.uk

I have already emailed Alastair Darling, the FSCS, my MP and the Treasury.

I have now written to -
darling
treasury
cameron
osbourne and my local MP plus complaint to FSCS

I think it would be much easier to have one thread for all icesave compensation posts rather then the 3 currently running.

And it woud be easier if you only had one post instead of the multiples you have crying out for Martin.....

An update has appeared on the FSCS website - but nothing about Icesave!!
• That is utterly atrocious. How can the FSCS release a statement tonight without a mention of Icesave? Even if it was a pitiful "we might, perhaps if we ordain to, tell you a nugget of info next week" it would have been better than the complete and utter non mentioning of the problem. Methinks they've decided to bury their head in the sand over Icesave...

Hmm, on second thoughts - maybe they're going to use this mini one as a dry run to see how the process works in practice, before moving onto the much larger icesave issue?

Jeez! Why don't people calm down and actually read what's on the FSC site?

FSCS proposals for accelerated payment process being considered in Iceland (17 October 2008)

Over 200,000 UK savers with around 300,000 accounts at Icesave, the UK branch of Landsbanki, are a step closer to getting their money back this week, as the authorities in the UK and Iceland work on the process for accelerating the payment of compensation to them.
The FSCS, together with representatives of H M Treasury, the Financial Services Authority and the Bank of England, met with counterparts in Iceland last weekend. Significant progress was made and an accelerated approach to paying compensation was agreed in principle.
Since then, the UK authorities have been working on the detail of alternatives to the conventional, form-based compensation process and these have been put to Icelandic counterparts for consideration.
FSCS Chief Executive Loretta Minghella said today: "Our message to savers entitled to our protection is simple: your money is safe. Our paramount concern is to ensure that you get it back as quickly as possible, so we are doing everything we can to agree an innovative solution which will significantly accelerate the process."
Meanwhile, we have been working closely with the systems operators for Icesave, so that we can get timely access to the data we need to verify claims. We are pleased to report that we are receiving excellent co-operation from them.
The Authorities hope to settle the process over the coming days, and expect to issue guidance next week about how savers will be able to claim their money
