Waterproof dog beds

Options
Does anyone have any experience of waterproof, padded, dog beds? I saw them in a magazine at the vet's. They look great, and say you just brush/hose them down, and they dry in minutes. Very pricey though, but worth it if they do waht they say.

I am just sooo fed up with smelly dog beds and the constant washing and drying, hairs in the washing machine, and so on.

So, anyone?
Anytime;)

We bought some cheap waterproof dog beds and i think when i get some cash i will splash out for these http://www.tuffies.co.uk/products.asp wipe clean ones. Our cheapo ones are a nylon sort of material and have been been great, they are quite tough and have not ripped with some play bitting attacks. Hector dog still has the odd accident and we also use them in the car so it doesn't matter if they have muddy/wee-ey paws as we can chuck the covers in the washing machine. We have big dogs so if bed wasn't waterproof and got soiled it would be ruined as too big for machine.

The down sides are that with ours the roughish material means that they make scratchy sounds every time they move so they really need a cover/blanket over the top. Ours also had poppers on one end which isn't ideal as reduces waterproofness and the pups did manage to get the duvet inner out of it one day and chew it a bit, so i think i'd rather have the all-in -one type like tuffie does. I've also found that since chucking the covers in the washing machine a few times that they aren't as waterproof anymore, i could probably wash them in some nikwash type stuff to re-waterproof i guess.

These sound great! Has anyone tried them? I would be willing to spend the money but unfortunately I think I would need the largest size for our dog which is also the most expensive. Think it might be worth it though, and it would save money on washing and tumble drying too. That is the one thing I dislike about dog ownership - smelly bedding! I am sensitive to it, and manage to get it out of the house, but it means constant washing of the bedding. (currently use a duvet inside a big plastic bed)

If I got one of these I could put it inside the plastic bed.

I have the same problem with smelly beds, and my retriever won't use a plastic bed, seems to find them too hard. I was looking at these, because they do beds with sides, which my dog likes, but the prices are  http://www.kudospetproducts.co.uk/pet-beds.html. Worth it if they work, and last, though. I wondered if anyone knew what they were like? I might just save up and take a chance.

Extra throw on my bed in a single works in this house. I have tried every dog bed under the sun for this lad and he wont use one - preferring the hall and hard floor to a soft bed. He jumps up with me in the early hours of a cold morning - rest of the time - the floor

Ah bless, he is a man of simple tastes! We had a big cushiony thing when we first had him and he didn't really like it. Then one day when we had a friend round who was scared of dogs, he got annoyed at being locked up in the kitchen so tore his bed apart through frustration.
We got him a big plastic one with an old duvet inside, which he adores, and has a lie in some mornings. I think that was maybe what he had in his old place.
In the evenings he sleeps on the carpet in front of the fire because his bed is in the kitchen.

He isn't allowed upstairs (I have asthma so can't have a dog in the room where I sleep), so he hasn't tasted real luxury on a human bed!

He once snuck up the stairs when I wasn't looking but I got to him before he got on my bed.

She uses dog beds happily, especially the round/oval ones with sides I'm just fed up with the smell and constant washing/drying of conventional ones. I just don't want to spend a fortune on something that doesn't do what it says it will.
