Hi James,
Boots prices aren't super cheap but the gifts are nice and it's the 3 for 2 offer on the Xmas stuff that makes it worthwhile!

Yep, I agree with you Wendy,
Id take a good Tesco store for cheap gifts anyday. (and cards and wrapping paper etc)
I always find its far too easy to overspend in boots trying to rack up the points.0 -

There you go - the PERFECT Xmas gift for everyone over the age of 18There are many paths to tread to find true financial enlightenment, some of them are clear of obstacles, others have huge piles of doggie DooDoo in them in which one can easily tread. The journey is not made easier by the fact that the financial institutions blind fold us before we set out on our route.

I agree too that Tesco and Asda are cheaper than Boots but I am surprised how little I spent this year with the 3 for 2 giftsMortgage-free wannabe!0 -

I went and had a look in boots yesterday and there stuff is a little too pricey for me even on the 3 for 2 so will be going round town centre again today to have a look at the smaller shops and see what i can get :snow_grinSavings Total so far for 2026: £0/£10,0000 -

I've found some fab stuff in Pound shops before, things that you wouldn't even think of getting there. So they are always worth a look if you are on a budget.
For my dad's birthday I made him a gift box, out of an old shoebox, some foam chips I got from work, Wrapping Paper and the contents were a Theaksons Pint Glass I got free from a pub ( I asked for it, didn't steal it! More often than not if you ask they'll let you have one) a bottle of Old Peculiar costing £1.59 (it's my dad's fave beer) and a Strictly come dancing DVD with Natasha Kaplinsky (from a Pound shop, bought cos my dad has a crush on Natasha!!) so the total cost was £2.59, but looked like it cost so much more.
Perhaps you could make your own gift boxes, with little stocking filler type things? or some homemade sweets/jams/chutneys/shortbread?
Anyway hope you get things sorted. :xmassign: :xmastree:0 -
I have a very similar problem which involves buying champagne, i just can't seem to help myself.Gonna_Do_It wrote:I have the same problem though when I go out, for some reason after 2 glasses of wine I seem to think I am the richest girl in town and can afford to buy everyone drinks and I presume that I am just everyones vending machine and splash out fags here there and everywhere!!
I just try and stay away from bars that sell champagne these days and try and get a bit tipsy on cheap vodka before i leave the house instead - it works!!
My biggest mistake use to be taking my cash card and credit card out with me, i now draw out cash before i go and make sure the cards are left safely at home (saves losing them too....)
