After maintaining my budget all through november i then went out on my Mates Stag Party on Friday and Blown over £120 on one stupid reckless night of drinking................................ :o

i am so totally embarressed about this as this has now left me with approx £90 for the rest of the month to live on and get Christmas presents ...............Why do i do it????????

Guess i just got carried away with the celebrations...... :o The meals came to about £50 each and then we started on the drinks ...........i just feel like an utter fool................

I have put this up here so people can have a go at me because i have been such a prat about this........ :o

Buy everyone a copy of Martin's book for Christmas - because of the money it'll save them, it's worth far more than the cover price!

Buy a pack of cheap mince, cook it up as bolognese or chilli with veggies, and freeze it in portions - use it to flavour the pasta or rice rather than a huge dollop on top. That should go a long way.

The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

James you better use your time more wisely at work, find all the free card sites, adapt them and print ! at least thats moneysaving.
The trouble with taking too much money out is spending it! Take less next time or meet after the meal, I did that 2 weeks ago, I had a bottle of red at home instead and then blagged a lift of a friend who dropped me off at the pub and carried on with the party.

Awwwwwwwwww bless.....don't think anyone could beat you up as well as you are doing it to yourself!!
Just accept it as a lesson learned .the hard way.
Now go and look on the festive fivers thread for cheap Christmas gifts.
Just out of interest what did you eat that cost £50?

The trouble with drink is that, while one or two have no adverse effect, once you drink enough to feel tipsy then everything looks and feels great, and you just go along with the flow. By the time you have spent a fortune you are too p***ed to care.

That's why drinking must be checked at the start, when you still have the mental lucidity to know what you're doing. This would also prevent alcoholism, not just save a packet each week.

I grew up in a country where wine is drunk with every meal, but little alcohol is consumed at other times, as we don't feel the need for it in order to enjoy ourselves or relax, or just "let go".
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

  • Hmmm, a difficult one. I aren't going to bash you about blowing £120 as you are punishing yourself already, but we need to think about how are you going to get through the rest of the month on £90...

    Questions

    1. Have you bought any xmas pressies yet?

    2. How many people do you need to buy for?

    3. How many of the answer to q. 2 do you actually need to buy for?

    4. Do you have any food in?

Presuming about 40 quid for xmas pressies, you have 50 quid for the rest of the month, not a lot, but do able. If you get over to old-style and draw yourself up a meal plan you should be able to get under budget. Do you have anything else to pay for out of the 90 quid?
