Does anyone have a name and address for someone within this organisation that will respond to written complaints? I've tried writing to the complaints team at 4 Marine Drive, Edinburgh (even sent it recorded delivery) but they've just ignored my letter.

It's taken them 6 months to transfer our electricity and a year to transfer our gas and I don't intend to let them away with it!

Many thanks!

You could contact OFGEM who say:-

"If you have a consumer complaint or require information or advice regarding the energy industry you need to contact energywatch on their dedicated helpline: 0845 906 0708, or by Fax on: 020 7799 8341."
    Torgwen.......... :) ...........
  • Have they given you a reason for the delay Cas?

Hi Captain. Not at the outset, just the standard holding response to the original letter and when DH phoned he got the same sort of response, ie we'll need to look into it for you and call you back (they didn't). We were told several times that our account would be put on hold whilst this was being looked into but it wasn't so we kept getting bills and reminders and final demands!

Don't know what the problem was with the electricty transfer (apart from sheer bl***y incompetence) but the delay with the gas transfer was caused by the gas transporter company. Well at least that's who BG blamed for the delay. We're in the minority of the population in that our gas transporter isn't Transco, it's British Gas Connections Ltd. You'd think that since the gas supplier and transporter are part of the same group then they'd be able to sort it out quickly but obviously the left hand doesn't know what the right hand's doing! The gas account eventually got transferred last month.

Glad to be shot of BG but me being the stubborn kind of gal that I am I don't let anyone away with poor service. I'm not asking for much since all I want is for BG to give me an explanation for their rubbish handling of the transfer and apologise for all the inconvenience they've caused but even that's obviously too much for them to deal with!
