I got one of these from Carphone Warehouse - not payg but a contract with BT mobile (+TMobile) - 4.99 for 6 months and 9.99 for 6 months (the 25)
That includes 100 mins and 50 texts per month, plus free calls home, so would come in cheaper than PAYG so long as you use it wisely, and pass the credit check,

Agree with Myhandle - you'll get it cheaper by this contract than PAYG just remember to claim the cashback.

To reduce costs further - go through Rpoints (£11) and put in an old phone for trade in (£20) and you got it for £60pa plus 100xnet mins a month.
