AND the practice comes under the Denticare umbrella
I am caught between a rock and a hard place!
The Practice Manager
Machynlleth Medical Practice
Dinticare Limited
Good Morning,
Further to my conversation with you earlier this morning during which you advised me that you have forwarded my previous E. Mail to a higher authority, I wish to add the following.........................
As stated previously the Dentist said to me that I should see a Hygienist. If he is saying that I need this treatment then I believe that this should be done under the NHS facility and not in effect advised to go Private for this Scale/Clean and Polish treatment I feel is needed at this time. After all, I am an NHS patient, not private.
On reflection a further observation is that for my last appointment in February I requested a Scale and Polish also, and all that happened was a quick scrape around the rear of the bottom teeth. Well short of what is normally expected.
Also, with great respect, I do not have any recollection of a BPE chart ever being done to grade the sextants of the mouth in order to decide properly what dental treatment I may require.
I understand that this should be done at regular intervals but know doubt you will correct me if I have my facts wrong.
Best regards
Yours Sincerely
Mr. Boozecruiser
That should scare the pants off them!!
They really shouldn't do anything nasty to you for this - it's them that are in the wrong.
Contact the dental dept. of the PCT if you don't get anywhere.

1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

to be honest i think lots of patient could have bpe chart done and not even know about it, he/she could easily say they wrote it down without shouting it all out.
some patients think that they havent had a check up just because the dientist didnt shout out about every tooth - not all dentists (even working in the same practice as each other) do that.0 -

Yes, you could have a point there. However, if he did, nothing was obvious at all and perhaps this could now be fiddled as he knows I have re fared the matter above him. (Well, his Practice Manager did).
But if this is the case know doubt the Dentist will put me right:eek:
It doesn't alter my original beef though:DYou've heard the budget speech now you've been told. So far, this is the only reply that I have had. It doesn't really answer my concerns so I will just wait and see what happens on my visit.
I just hope that he doesn't have a pneumatic drill handy!!:D
"Just to confirm your appointment in November is for a Scale and Polish which a charge of £12.00 for this visit under the NHS regulations.
As you have been offered the service of a Hygienist on a private basis as the Dentist feels that this would be of a real benefit to you , But obviously we are more than happy to carry out a Scale and Polish on the NHS for you.
Thank You"
