What now for Iceland - The Terrorist Nation

So what next for Iceland? They have proven to have no integrity and no regard for British savers.

They have had anti-terrorist laws to freeze their assets in the UK. Good on you Gordon Brown - I really think you have become a first class prime minister in the last day!

They have not sent out a single clear or consistent message.

Lets treat them with the contempt they deserve. Dirty scoundrels that they are.

Yes Mr Icelandic PM - that means you.

Leave your central heating on 24/7 for 6 months and melt their country !
  • Actually - central heating is not a problem there; they don't pay for it - they get it completely for free from underground thermal springs. Strange but true. Great news if you live in a cold country - gov't pays.

But no more banking for them for a while, I guess! Back to basics - which is fishing in their case. You can hardly even farm there - the weather is quite harsh. It's just a small North Atlantic island...

I am Scandinavian and I like Icelanders despite all the hassle this has caused me. Would never turn my back on fellow Scandinavians. They had no idea things would work out in this way.

It's a hardworking people and the country is very well organised.
    They'll bounce back.
  • We can start by sending what is left of our navy into their territorial waters, and arrest their trawlers for fishing in OUR territorial waters. We confiscate their trawlers and fishing equipment, and sell them to third world countries.

  • I don't know about anyone else, but, while I'm very pleased to be getting my money back, the (ab)use of so-called anti-terrorism laws in this way is quite scary, and seems very wrong to me.
  • I agree the Icelandic PM is a disgrace. The UK government has impressed and surprised me in the swift and strong action it has taken in this matter and I applaud them for it.

In tonight's BBC news Brown lambasted them saying they have acted illegally and unacceptably:

Well, we'll send in Centrica, and they won't get their central heating free anymore. When we've finished, there will be no fishing without a licence. A few of our civil servants will soon disorganise the place. If we send in a couple of companies of Gurkhas, the only things bouncing will be severed heads.

    That'll learn 'em.

The very chump that helped create the mess is not the person we should be thanking. In any case, you have yet to experience the long term consequences of this buffoon - when sterling is worthless in a few years your savings won't be looking so good then.
