  • Buster..

Well you just reminded me that I haven't got my free speed upgrade that I had been promised from my ISP, so thanks for that.. I'm now going to get 1MB/s woohoo!

Just to clarify, If I understand your current setup correctly, there would be no advantage upgrading to the GT, it will still run at 8Mb's max.. so no point wasting money on it..yet.. (amended ! - just re-read your posts, and realised that you probably don't have a router yet, so the GT is probably a good choice, as it's only a few quid more, sorry).

Bazz, Are you aware of the security implications and requirements of wireless, the 834G series defaults to not a lot of (wireless) security, you need to setup WPA, turn of SSID broadcasting manually, etc.. Apologies if this is patronising, and you've already done it.. just wouldn't want you to be exposing your data to the world..
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • that's the g, not gt..which is 108

  • If you are using wireless, it's potentially like sticking a network lead out of the window, for your neighbours to connect to your network of PC's and use your internet connection..

If you dont enable encryption, everything you type in and receive is sent in the clear, and anyone with a sniffer program can see everything you do, read your emails, passwords etc..

Read this thread for some further info on what you need to do to secure it.. or some of the other forum posts on wireless and/or security..

Could you elaborate on how you crack a random 63 byte WPA key with Airsnort, and how many packets you need to capture to do that?
