Text display timer?

When I hover over the titles of the threads on here and other places, it displays the text of the first post for a few seconds. Can I adjust the amount of time that the text is displayed for? Recently I have noticed that the text displays for less time than it used to.

They are controlled by your browser, and cant be changed.

Ok I see. But, it has changed somehow as it used to display the text for a longer period than it does now!

Only thing I can think of is have you changed browsers ?

Mine stays on for about 3 seconds ....

I use both IE and Firefox and it does in on both. I also use The Sims 2 pc game and it does it on this now also. It doesn't last as long a 1 second, like yours, it used to last about 3 seconds.

Hmmm, maybe its a setting in windows somewhere but iv never come across it.

Yes perhaps it is in Windows. My niece has two laptops and one of them seems ok, whilst the other has this problem. I tried googling an answer by inputting something like "hover text timer", but got no joy thus far!

The technical term for this hover text is 'tool tip'. Perhaps you may get some better Internet search results by trying this.

Yes, I just had a look at that thread. I note that you use Firefox and that you don't have the problem. On my nieces laptop we tried with both FF and IE and had the same problem.

I'll google tool tip and see if I can gain any further information. Though I'm sure you've already done that and not found a cure.

You can change it if you use TweakUI (powertoys), theres a setting under "Mouse". Im just looking at how you would do it now without TweakUI. There must be a way. but i think its probably a matter of editing the registery to do so, ill report back if i come across an easier solution than using TweakUI (not that its an issue as TweakUI is a great little app)

Item number 7 on the list refers to what I think we are looking for. But it looks like it alters something in the registry and so I'm a bit dubious about trying this out since I'm not an expert.

I just noticed that item 1 on the list mentions your TeakUI !
