I disagree .. i would estimate about 25% of the population would be needed to work the land.
The rest could be deported or "disposed of" as has been inferred.
Again, another country in the 1930s tried this somewhere .. which i could remember their blasted name.
Another option would be be to ship the Scots there (they like the cold) and we could regenerate Scotland so its fit for habitation again.
Erm, yes, getting a bit close to the bone I know (only *crap* jokes folks .. not a rally)0 -

There are the same amount of savers in Icesave as there are people in Iceland, so presumably with the charter of a few ships it would be possible to invade? The Icesave customers could then claim the country for themselves?
According to the CIA world factbook the country has "no regular military forces"! Whoops, bit of a slip up there! Ripe for an invasion. (Thankfully, the US air base, which could have been a bit of an obstacle closed in 2006).
Could be a walkover, particularly if done during their 8 months of no daylight - they wouldn't even see it coming!0 -
We should ask just to have the country instead! Forget our money.
That country is a goldmine in renewable energy.Savings

There was a quote somewhere (BBC? Times?) that said "there are more Icesavers than Icelanders and perhaps we should just go and reclaim our dosh the old fashioned way" It even made me smile on Tuesday! :rotfl:Piglet

The first part of your post gives me an idea..... Each person who has an account with Icesave should get an Icelander and they can go back to Iceland once they have paid off their debt to the account holder! Think of it as a form of slave labour.0 -
