When it works, the Faster Payment thing is great, but at the moment it does seem a bit random if it works or not! I can switch money from Halifax to Lloyds instantly, but whan I tried to pay Halifax credit card from a Halifax current account it still took 3 days, despite telling me that the payment had gone via Faster Payments when I made the transfer!
When (or should that be IF?) all the banks & financial institutions get 'on board' it will be great! The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

I am afraid you are incorrect here, ~I constantly use the Search facility and it often brings up stuff which is nothing to do with the search query. In fact the Search facility has a poor reputation (unlike the website). I DID use the search facility and you will note that since my thread starter, there have been several other new ones on the same subject.
I don't understand your problem? I just searched as you described and it brought up all the relevant threads! Are you using the forums search or the site search?Maybe the Administrator could make this subject a 'sticky' , merge the threads and we would all see it instantly.
I'm with you there though! We really need to make the original FPS thread a sticky, with all the updates on the disgraceful "founder" members who still don't have their systems in place!

I've had the same experience with halifax. Trying to go from halifax to tesco, sometimes FP is accepted, sometimes not. There is a £500 limit with halifax but yesterday, eventually!, 2 x 500 were ok. Today I can't even move £1 via FP. Via Bank of scotland I have done FP and both times that was ok. I can only think either halifa FP system is crap or it has hidden limits which they don't see fit to tell customers about. Perhaps there is a 500/day limit total or to one account and I'm hitting that. Or perhaps it is just crap.0

Just to clarify re the credit card payments not going on faster payment this is quite normal still with a lot of them. If a payment is sent between two accounts both part of the faster payment system it will be there within 2 to 4 hours. If however it's to a credit card or some business accounts these have a bank account and then you put your card detail as a referance on the payment. Every customer who pays there credit card puts the money into this same account and then they credit card company uses your card number to allocate it to your card. Although the card company have recieved it same day they are allowed to take up to 4 working days to credit your actual card. In other words they have received it but it will just be in there holding account for a while. (sorry I've just re read the above and it sounds a bit baffling but i can't now be bothered re-typing! Hope it's understandable)0
