Christmas eve hamper

It is now a yearly trek outside in the dark on Christmas Eve, with my santa and reindeer footprint stencil, sprinkling the "made up" magic snow into the stencils all over the garden. Last year I made up a couple of bucket fulls and sprinkled a load and told my two girls that santa's sleigh must have landed with a bump and shook off the snow. What I REALLY wanted to do was climb on the roof and sprinkle it there but there is a limit to what you can do safely in the night...... Call me mad but I love it.
:rotfl: you sound like me - i do mental things like that all in the name of xmas :rotfl:0 -
sophiesmum - brilliant cushion :T
We don;;t have a poundland, poundstretcher, poundworld or anything like that where I live - its all 20 miles away:mad:Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Sophiesmum, that throw is absolutely beautiful, what a brilliant idea :T Matching cushion too :j I'd be soooo chuffed if someone gave me those for Xmas
Can I be thick and ask what applique is, have you stitched the cover front onto the blanket with a sewing machine?
Hi rainmac - yes I just cut the panel off the spare cushion cover, pinned and tacked to the fleece nd then did on sewing machine with a zig zg stitch. If you wanted to do it by hand you could use contrasting wool and do a blanket stitch around the edges that would work okay.
I'm even toying with the ide of buying another fleece to sew onto that one to make it into a snuggle sack - sort of like a fleecy sleeping bag.0 -
Just spoke to my son about this Christmas Eve hamper - he'ss not heard of it before and is totally ga ga over it ...................:rotfl:
So, now need to get some christmas pj's (son has instructed !) size 2yrs (baby grandson big for his age !) and some bath stuff -now I know which sort............pop father christmas head on them and thats that done.
Also need a silver star decoration -can anyone recommend somewhere for something like that ? All the christmas catalogues I've had through the door and not a silver star to be seenMary

Mary could you buy a wooden star and paint it silver yourself and maybe put your grandsons name on it? I have snowflakes but afraid I dont have any stars or I would send you one!
I got loads of bits from https://www.craftshapes.co.uk
This link is for the star

Why not email them and ask if you could buy just one instead of 5?Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Rusty - thanks. I could do that. OH suggested I find a star template and print it on card and then cover it with silver paper but knowing me it'll look a bit naff.....................lol
I've seen plenty of snowflakes about this year but no stars.........don't know why that is.
So now on a mission for a star and christmas pj's......................lol
Oh and son wants a Beatles Calendar, OH wants a Liverpool FC one - no ones asked what I want yet...............:rotfl:Mary

Mary your OH is fabulous! thats a great idea. you could even use foil to cover it or glue and silver glitter? I have little wooden snowflakes that I bought and haven't touched lol
Christmas PJ's normally tesco/asda/sainsburys do some nice cheap ones?
As no one has asked what do you want Mary? lolRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Rusty - oh the dreaded tin foil..............................lol Think I might just get OH to do that..........his idea so why not..............:rotfl:
I'll try out Tescos for pj's - not sure that its a big enough shop for clothes as don't go there often. I know woolworths here have them but they're all ladybird - very nice but a bit pricey.
What do I want for Christmas ? Well, last year the hairdressers at the bottom of the road were doing a voucher for £35 for 2 hair dos, manicure, pedicure, massage, facial, leg wax, eyebrow plucking..................brilliant it was. I spread it out over a few months so I had regular treats. That would be nice if they did it again which is doubtful. Failing that, I keep mentioning to OH that I want to read a book by Reg Smith of The Troggs....he wrote a book all about crop circles(can't remember the title now!) and I heard him talking about it on the radio........several years ago now ...........looked the book up on intertnet and it was a bit pricey (normally get my books charity shop price...........lol) -so have hinted ever since and still waiting....................oh well, everything comes eventually they say................:oMary

Evening everyone, Hope everyone is enjoying Halloween. I noticed someone posted the socks that you can get from primark for £1 and I had all three versions but could never find my camera until tonight.... Here's all three...
I have 3 young girls and I'm doing a Xmas hamper but thought of giving it to them the friday that they break up from school. Something to build up the excitement. I have the following planned for each daughter.
Sock monkey in a bag with a label attached asking them to look after it (fellow MSE's made them for me)
Colouring in book
Snowman soup
Socks
Bath stuff
Name a star laminated poster
new P'J's and the best bit....
We got tickets to go and see a local pantomine on xmas eve and they dont know about it so it'll be something to look forward too. Thats the reason I thought about giving them the hamper early so that they can use it as we wont be home xmas eve!
