Went to our local pound shop today after work and picked up a christmas cushion cover, it is made of fleecy material with santa on it. I wanted it for an xms eve hamper for a friends little girl. Whilst walking about shops had a brainwave and went back for another, then went to primark and picked up a lovely deep red throw for £2. I am going to applique one of cushion cover panels onto fleece to make an xmas throw with matching cushion. Think little one will love to snuggle on sofa under it on xmas eve.
Will post a picture later. :D

    Have now completed the throw.
This was the cushion cover from £1 shop, lovely fleece material. Now filled with spare cushion.

The second cover I unpicked and used the front panel to applique to the primrk throw with zig zag stitch.

This is what completed throw looks like with applique.

i am really happy with how it has turned out and the throw and cushion have only cost £4 - bargain:D , also in real life it is much brighter red than it has shown up in the photos.
Hope it gives someone else an idea.:D

    Hi
    Your fleece looks fab.:T
Can you tell me was it a pound shop or poundland that you got the cushion cover?
    Thanks
  • It is one called poundworld, it is a chain though as I have seen them in other towns.
Lots of the pound shops carry similar stock so worth looking on the offchance if you are interested.:D

wow all the hampers are fab - love 'em! :D

p.s. does it annoy anyone else that the free name a star certificates have 'free name a star' at the top of the certificate? or is it just me? lol :D

It costs about £1.15 not to have 'free' on the certificate. I know it means it's no longer free but I paid not to have the word on as I have given a couple for pressies.

Love your hamper rainmac I hope mine looks as good as yours - I'll be nipping into Primark tomorrow lunchtime I think the Pj's sounds fab! It's so handy working close to my local town centre! I've got a list as long as my arm for 2morrow!
Can I ask where you got your cellophane was it Flower Hour? I was going to keep all my hampers and take to the florist but It's probably cheaper buying it by the roll I assume?

I did get the cello and bow from Flower Hour. My rolls have lasted ages.

Beki you could pay to have it removed. or if you are clever enough to use something like photoshop you could remove it yourself. Not sure how much it was but I think Rainmac paid a couple of £ to have hers removed. I could be wrong though.

    Rainmac again absolutely stunning.

Cookiedough them socks look fab! I want some :D ... wonder if they come small enough for my little girly ... my son could probably get away with them but I struggle to find cute things for my little girly. I can see I will be adding to the hampers here :D

You may be in luck Rusty as the socks are in kiddie sizes. I saw them in Primark yesterday and I'm pretty sure they had them in 6-8; 9-12 and 12-3. They didn't have any 4-7 otherwise I would have bought some for me :D

Sophiesmum, that throw is absolutely beautiful, what a brilliant idea :T Matching cushion too :j I'd be soooo chuffed if someone gave me those for Xmas :D

Can I be thick and ask what applique is, have you stitched the cover front onto the blanket with a sewing machine?

The Magic Snow mentioned in an earlier post is fantastic stuff. It comes like a very fine powder and you measure out an amount, add water, and it all fluffs up and feels like REAL SNOW!

I'm a complete snow addict so was v.excited to discover this stuff about three years ago. It is now a yearly trek outside in the dark on Christmas Eve, with my santa and reindeer footprint stencil, sprinkling the "made up" magic snow into the stencils all over the garden. Last year I made up a couple of bucket fulls and sprinkled a load and told my two girls that santa's sleigh must have landed with a bump and shook off the snow. What I REALLY wanted to do was climb on the roof and sprinkle it there but there is a limit to what you can do safely in the night...... Call me mad but I love it.

Using the same stuff, I also put snowy footprints in the girls bedrooms leading up the stairs etc. The magic snow will last outside for ages unless there's a downpour. It goes a bit slimy after a while. It tends to dry out a bit quicker indoors but is great stuff.
