  • ICICIs share price has dropped, but even that drop is smaller than that sufferred by many UK banks in the last week or two.so no need to panic as of indian markets concerned.

    Even if this did happen, the FSCS would cover you.
    lol, their deposits in India would be ten times higher if not more than in the UK!
  • Just out of curiosity, why there are so many 1-message-posters in this thread ?

    because its boring & going nowhere ,not the panic stricken thread that we are getting used to on here when a 'foreign' bank is mentioned.

    Hats off to their web-server fixers. Their site's being going like a bleddy rocket lately.

    Also, the imminent demise of the bank itself is yet to materialise.
  • I have just opened a fixed rate 12 month term account with ICICI.....as they are giving 7.2% interest......put everything i had in my instant access as don't really need to get hold of it for a while. I ain't worried that they will go under. Plus i am fed up with everyone being scared of putting there money in UK branches of overseas banks.....its crazy. I am too waiting for money back from icesave, but it wont stop me doing it, if they offer better returns on my savings. As long as you stick to the limits you should be ok.

    Bring on OCT 09....interest date...:rotfl::j

    There is a fast-track system being developed for ICESAVERs to get their cash back and this will be in place within ten days, apparently.

    Regarding ICICI bank. Your money is protected upto 50k, just as it is with any other UK registered bank. Therefore you are no more or no less protected.

    I would also take the opportunity to point out that HBOS, RBS, LloydsTSB, Barclays, HSBC and Standard Chartered Banks' shares are continuing their slide downwards. So these are hardly what a reasonable thinking person would consider to be the ultimate in safety nets.
