Are we supposed to wait to be contacted regarding this, or has anyone started their claim already via the FSCS website?0

In the current climate, I can't see one form being much to ask.0

I agree, the easiest, cheapest and quickest method would be as you say through the linked account. As its an online account they could give savers a time option should they wish to change details but there would be a risk doing that. All could be done via e mail. Saying that I do not want to see another internet only bank account for a long time.

I'm still waiting for the first Icesave phishing email, asking us to confirm our linked account
- there's been a rash of phishing purporting to come from many other banks over recent days.... :rotfl:
What worries me is they have to design the form first ....

The Government couldn't do that because they couldn't take legal control of Icesave, as it is an Icelandic company. They could, however, legally assume control of Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander (a UK company), and sell the deposits business to ING Direct before putting it into administration.0
