Berlingo windscreen washer problem

My Berlingo did this - it was the fuse - but as it was under warranty I got it repaired at the citroen garage so don't know what fuse it is or where it is - sorry. Apparantly it's a really common fault in the Berlingo especially when trying to get water out in icy weather

Trouble is the fuse for the washers is not listed in either the handbook or the Haynes manual. I have just returned from the local main dealer where I tried to buy a fuse & asked which fuse it was I needed to change. Their attitude was that by telling me this they would loose work & so they weren't going to tell. They said that I could, of course, book the van in and they would have a look at it. I shall not be buying another vehicle off them (we've bought 4 brand new vehicles off them previousl)

I've now checked the fuses below the dashboard, by interchanging them, to no avail. I've also checked the cable at the plug into the pump and have been unable to detect a current so it looks as though I,m going to have to take it into a garage (not my local dealer)

It's fuse 14 in the engine compartment fuse box - just to the left and up from the battery as you look from the front of the car.

    That's useful ptigga, thanks.

I wonder if NOWSE ever got his/hers fixed.
After all, it was nearly nine months ago that the question was asked, and windscreen washers would surely have been needed over winter.

Btw, welcome to the forum.

When I had my Berlingo,I had the same pump problem and I changed it for a new one from Citroen,as believe it or not, they were cheaper than Peugeot for the same part!!!!! If you have the van, make sure you get the single outlet one.

It was about £12 iirc, and that was last year.

The pump is situated behind the inner plastic wheel arch,in front of the o/s wheel,at the bottom of the wing.It will only take about 15 minutes to do.They are prone to breaking down due to their location.

No tools are required to change the pump itself,as it pulls out/pushes into a rubber sealing gromit. You'll understand when you see it.

    Hope this helps.

    Ken,

I'm just about to attempt this job when I get the part delivered. Can I get at the pump just by removing the wheel, or do I have to remove the plastic wheel arch as well?

    Cheers

turn the wheel so you have some space and see if you can get the cover off if not then remove wheel only remove the front bit of the panel where the bottle is and pull it back wedge it behind the hub if it gets in your way
