new deal and the pac code??
please excuse me if my question sounds stupid...my '3' contract will end at the end of january 06 and i will be looking for another deal probably on '3' network. i understand that in order for me to keep my phone number i need to get the pac code off '3' before the end of january but what are the steps after that?? should i just tell the company im bying the new handset from about the pac code ?? i heared that i have to transfer the number to pay as go phone first...is that true and how it is done????? i have been having a new number every year which made my life a bit difficult and i would like to keep my number this time.....apologies for the many questions.

3 does allow you to convert your old sim card from monthly contract to payg, but does not allow transfer of your old number to another 3 phone.
You need to ask for a pac code, and transfer the number from your old sim card to another network temporarily, then ask for a pac code from the other network, and transfer the number back to 3 on the new sim card.
You need to give 30 days notice to 3 to terminate the monthly contract, and allow a few weeks for the separate exercises of transferring your old number from 3 to another network and back again.
Obviously make sure the new phone is usable on the 3 network.0 -
You don't need the 30days when you ask for a PAC code, just ask for it around the time your 12 months is up, and then pass it to the new network.
Its best to keep the contract running until your number is ported out, as once the port is complete, your contract with the old network is terminated. If for some reason they close your contract before you complete the port out, then there will be problems.0
