I have for sale on ebay a rose petal cottage. The highest bidder has just contacted me and wants me to cancel her bid as apparently her mother has bought her dd a new one. My item ends tomorrow and i just wanted to double check that I am not obliged to retract her bid? ive checked the ebay site and it says there are only 3 reasons for extractions that they will accept and her reason was not included in that and does she have to go through ebay to retract her bid and not me? soz for all the questions but if i cancel her bid my I will not make much money on my item. I hate time wasters like this but i dont want to be harsh to the bidder either. thanks for reading.

IIRC, if they retract their bid, they will get a strike, if you do it, they won't."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

What was their bid? What bid is the next one down?0

its currently at £31 and next bid is £20. I have 18 people watching it so someone else may bid but the seller may have put a high max bid?
thanks for your help.0 -
its a risk to leave it but worst case is you could 2nd chance offer the 2nd highest bidder?
i had to search as i had no idea what it was

If you don't retract the bid and bidders wins and doesn't pay you have to go though the NPB dispute and if you go to a SCO the amount you finally get will be lower. Worse case scenario is you also get a neg.
If you pull the bid, other bidders might then see the price drop and enter late bids, there might also be other snipe bids pending as well.
Personally I would remove the bid as requested.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I would remove the bid.
The bidder has done the correct thing in contacting you. If they retracted their bid, they'd actually be breaking the rules, so it's right that they asked you to cancel it.
You don't want a NPB on your hands...My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I would remove the bid, if you have 18 watchers I am sure you will get further bids.0

yes that is the item.ive got till tomorrow till the listing ends and will think about cancelling it. its a risk coz the item is worth £100 and if i cancel her bid and no one else bids on it then someone else is getting a bargain at £20!its a risk to leave it but worst case is you could 2nd chance offer the 2nd highest bidder?

The one in the link only went for £50 so your £100 might be a bit optimistic.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
