Peston named for insider trading!

City outrage over Peston's reporting has been voiced by Michael Howard. He has written to the FSA to ask for an investigation into the leaking of intensely market sensitive information.
Howard has also tabled a PQ asking if the Chancellor of the Exchequer "will initiate an official inquiry into the leaking of market sensitive information to the Economic Editor of the BBC relating to the recapitalisation of Britain's high street banks".

I really honestly hope he has done some insider trading so the smug git can get his comupence.
Bring back the bloke who presents Dragon's Den. He was awesome, reminded me of my economics lecturer

For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -

His style of reporting has been awful, he has done nothing to aid the situation.
A few weeks ago live on news he said the compensation limit was err i thinks its £32k ... wrong it was 35k
why do these people who are only journalists get so much importance0 -
Whatever else happened the title is misleading - Peston has not been "named for insider trading". It's about leaked information that the government thinks shouldn't have been leaked. There's no evidence Peston himself traded based on that information as far as I'm aware.0

I think he should be investigated to check his sources were in order. He did it years ago claiming the government were planning on joining the euro - that time shares went up.
Yes freedom of press etc but one man should not be able to make sensationalist "exclusive/sources suggest" claims based on little hard fact which have such big impacts on the economic system.0 -
This bloke seems to be revelling in what is going on, and I'm sure he is causing panic in some quarters, and enjoying it.
I suspect he will be devastated when it's over, and he is not constantly on the box.0 -
Personally I like Robert Peston. He has consistantly warned of problems in the pipeline whilst others with a large stake in the market or an interest as agents of some sort have consistently poo pooed them.0

I have no thoughts one way or the other, e-x-c-e-p-t I don't l-i-k-e the way he d-r-a-w-s his w-o-r-d-s out while thinking of the next s-t-a-g-g-e-r-i-n-g-l-y important thing to say.
Putting him on the radio stops him waving his hands around as well.0 -
