The other way of getting into trouble is if somone puts in a complaint against you.
Best advice to anyone is to not attract any attention to yourself , drip feed your items onto ebay or open another account or use a mates account. This also also applys to your paypal account as they monitor that too.
buggu, the OP had specific problem with an item he was selling and was temporarily suspended. It was nothing to do with income but with the item type. I agree that once a certain amount has gone through a paypal account then paypal require additional information, however they do not NARU a seller while that information is obtained.
It also makes no difference how you list items on ebay, the tax man is interested in us all and it is completely random which they investigate and which they don't.

Soo
Agree its to do with the item u sell or if break any obivous ebay rules like mentioning more than one item in listing to avoid ebay fees, that u get a naru but i personally feel that your LESS likey to be targeted if you not making much much money.
I cant see tax man targeting too many ppl who sell the odd item here and there.
As for my mate he was blocked from using his paypal account only until they had verification simply because he had made too much money so early on, which kind of justifys my point.0 -

I agree that you should be less likely to receive attention if you sell less, but that is not necessarily the case. Last year for instance according to talk on the unmoderated boards certain categories of people were targetted. Also, since ebay do not pass details across unless specifically asked, many ebay users get caught because friends or colleagues report them anonymously to the IR. Getting NARU'd is an entirely different matter and yes breaking rules will get a user NARU'd.buggu wrote:As for my mate he was blocked from using his paypal account only until they had verification simply because he had made too much money so early on, which kind of justifys my point.
Having a paypal account limited is not the same as an ebay suspension. Paypal have receiving (and sending) limits and for instance a basic paypal account has quite a low limit before verification or confirmation is needed.
