Ebay account suspended!

My ebay account was suspended 10 minutes before around £600 of transactions were about to finish so i am like a rat about it.
Among the items i was listing was a handful of new xbox and ps2 games so i think i'd heard these can cause problems with VERO.
i sent ebay a rather curt email asking why with over 400 of feedback i was being treated like i was a criminal - for example they emailed all recent transaction winners to advise them NOT to proceed or to send me any money.
Anyway, they've sent me back an automated reply saying if i jump through hoops and fax them a copy of my passport, recent bank statement etc then they might just consider reinstating my account. Given as usual they won't give me any useful info - like WHY this happened -Is this worthwhile or is this account now doomed anyway? maybe best to start afresh?
Pity they hadnt jumped as hard on the guy who screwed me out of £400 earlier in the year....

If you provide ebay with the info they need then your account will be reinstated.
If you choose not to provide the info then your account remains suspended for good. Don't forget as well that if you do choose not to be reinstated you cannot later open a new account, as if you get caught your new account will also be automatically suspended for good and you will effectively be banned from ebay.
There has been a lot of problems with selling the new games consoles and has been discussed on here and at length on the unmoderated boards. It does appear to be a VERO decision and not something that ebay choose to do off their own back, which doesn't explain why some sellers are still able to sell. However, for every seller still selling it is likely than many others have been NARU'd if the discussions on other forums are to be believed.

i agree ebay are absoloute gits really. instead of telling me that you cant write "not next" in clothes like i always have seen before , they just ended ALL my listings the next day.I was livid. They could have just warned me to change them and i would have.o a whole evening wasted .Yes, & they dont help you when you lose money on bad sellers as i have a fair few times. You have my sympathy.Lets hope another auction site soon overtakes them in the near future!0

Thanks for the sympathy, still licking my wounds. At least they just ended your auctions, they NARU'd me without any warning!0 -

Thanks Soo, i will be sending them off the info they require tomorrow. You would think it would make more sense to just stop the listing(s) in question. They sent out emails to all recent buyers of mine saying i had been suspended and not to send me any money. They also said if they had sent me money to start a chargeback through paypal, which one of my buyers has - AND i'd already sent the item out. Bit of a knee jerk reaction by the buyer, but at the same time i am being made out by ebay to be some sort of monster when i am not - particularly annoying when so many scammers seem to get away with it!
Any idea how long it takes to reinstate?0 -
i have bought off people then they have been suspended(it has only taken a week for some TO COME BACK AGAIN)0

I'm only going by the talk on the unmoderated boards, but it looks like it can take between 2 -4 weeks to reinstate. Be careful though not to relist the same items as that will mean an automatic and permanent suspension.
Good luck

Cheers Soo. My g/f has an account, so things i need rid of to raise dosh for chrimbo i've been able to list through her, so that will keep me going until i get my own account back.
will be extremely careful about what i list, i have concluded that trying to make money on ebay is more hassle than its worth, by the time you take into account the taxman, ebay problems, paypal problems and the waifer thin profit margins - just going to stick to selling s/h stuff that i've finished with...0 -
I totally agree. ebay have become more and more greedy, their fees are bordering extortion. :mad:pgilc1 wrote:i have concluded that trying to make money on ebay is more hassle than its worth, by the time you take into account the taxman, ebay problems, paypal problems and the waifer thin profit margins - just going to stick to selling s/h stuff that i've finished with...
I've started selling my books on Amazon , the fees maybe steeper but your not crippled if your goods don't sell.Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

This normally happens if you starting make £600+ with a NEW account.Same thing happened to a friend of mine who had to send all the details before he was allowed to withdraw any money from his paypal account.
The other way of getting into trouble is if somone puts in a complaint against you.
Best advice to anyone is to not attract any attention to yourself , drip feed your items onto ebay or open another account or use a mates account. This also also applys to your paypal account as they monitor that too.0
