I don't think Icesave are very good

That feels better to get it off my chest.

  • Bizarrely enough, in some ways, I think they were......

Let me explain - although we now know that the whole edifice was built on little more than cod and luck, the actual day-to-day administration of accounts was actually rather good, reliable and easy to use.

Until they !!!!!!ed off back to Reykjavik with everyone's money of course.
    Great !
  • Would have liked it if Icesave could have been sold on as a going concern to another bank as has happened recently with certain other institutions.

Compared to some other banks, their website was well organised, straightforward and easy to use.

I also liked the pretty pastel colours of the word "ICESAVE" and the picture of the iceberg floating about induced in me a feeling of calmness and tranquillity.

And the one time I had to phone them up, I got through to a husky-voiced Scandinavian Mariella Frostrup soundalike.

    What's not to like?

Until they take your money and hide it under a volcano somewhere. Dodgy geysers, the lot of 'em...
  • Their telephone service was excellent. When I first set up my account I accidentally locked my password, and then accidentally locked my user ID too trying to get password reminders!

They were very helpful on the phone and I didn't have to wait in a single queue, the phone was answered by very helpful people within seconds every time, and they were extremely helpful, understood the systems and diagnosed the problem and solved them.

I have to say their customer service really was the best phone support I've ever experienced, I'm sad that's gone.

As for the running away with the accounts, is there any evidence that wasn't all orchestrated by the Icelandic government after seizing control? (Even if they only announced they took control after)

Are you a vicar? when you swear do you say "oh fiddlesticks":D

They are "A BUNCH OF ****** ******** AND SHOULD BE HUNG BY THEIR G*********"

I hate icelanders, had to emergency land there once, 6 in the morning, colder than a witches t**, and all they had to offer for breakfast was dozens of varieties of b*****y raw fish - that was before sushi was invented.

I'd nuke em if it was'nt for their russian mates.

And what have they given the world - bjork - I wonder if they all look like her.

Icesave online services and telephone operations are run by NSSL, a subsidary of Newcastle Building Society, who also provide the services for several other internet banks. So its the geordies you have to thank for the good service!

I don't agree. Their frozen chicken roasts are excellent and very good value too

(Sorry - don't know how to do proper quotes.)

I am so glad someone else said this! I loved the pretty colours on their website. I thought it looked very professional and reassuring. Even now when I log in I think "but it all looks so good - how can anything possibly be wrong"!

    I'm an idiot.....! :rotfl:
