Virgin media - Can they do this?

I got a letter recently from virgin media informing me that they have decided to make everyone's braodband capped, after you download a certian ammount your speed is dropped lower.
I signed a contract for unlimited broadband, can they do this?!

it's better than some providers atleased they tell you and capp is only for part off the day not all day just in peak times and you can still download the internet if you want just a little slower if you hit the capp for 5 hours and then back to normallthere or their,one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0

You have to be quite a hefty user to go over the peak-time thresholds so I wouldn't worry too much:
