XP Install Disc Says Corrupt File

I tried to install XP on a computer at home. It's a genuine Gold Windows Disc, although it's not been used for a while. A message comes up saying "ql10wnt.sys is corrupted." At that point, installation stops and I cannot continue. Is there anything that I can do??

you might have a damaged disk, borrow the same disk off someone and use your official keycode to install and that will solve your problem. It did for me.

If the disc isn't damaged and you get file copy errors, you'll most likely have some dodgy RAM in the computer. File copy errors on windows installation is a sign of dodgy RAM.

You can test the RAM in your PC (and run all sorts of other harware tests) with the Universal Boot CD. See here for more information: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/.

It's brand new Kingston ram.The guy in the shop tells me Kingston check all there ram before dispatch. That aside I checked it with Microsofts memory checker and there are no faults with it.

is the disk scratched? if yes, AT OWN RISK, clean with a little t-cut, do not rub in circles around the disk, rather small circles, or 'against the grain'

plan B, borrow an xp disk (same version), use your product key

The disc has some very very light surface scratches on it.I have seen and used discs in far worse conditions than this with no problems.
As far as plan b,I can't find anyone with the same version.Mine is "XP home 2002" so I am not even sure it has any service packs with it. I can possibly borrow someones back up copy of XP home SP2 integrated.Would this work or would my code not go with it?
