Pegasus Fitness what's the story?

Does anybody else have an outstanding order with Pegasus Fitness.co.uk???
I placed an order a few weeks ago for some shoes and payment was taken from my account and have heard nothing since.
Have tried ringing but it always goes to answerphone and no responses to emails.
Has had anybody else had similar issues, as unsure what to do next and also I brought the shoes on debit card as don't have a credit card so unsure of my protections.

Fingers crossed its just a small hiccup

Please help, was a sizeable purchase.
Thank you
James

Not heard of them before now, but looks like they've been trading a while (they have manufacturer awards from previous years), and looks like they have an eBay account too. May be another avenue of contact?

was it a visa debit card
  • unfortunately it was a debit card, am planning on going to talk to the bank next week where will get a credit card as well so won't get stung in the future.

Am still giving them a chance to respond to my emails and voice messages, as I agree with TiTheRev they look like a large quite respectable company as did quite abit of internet research before deciding to buy the trainers with them. They just to appear to have disappeared of the radar now and the site still appears to be taking orders!!
  • Has now been two weeks plus since placing the order and money was taken from my account.
Have sent off a couple of emails canceling my order and left a few messages now on the answer phone informing them of me cancelling my order, will probably send a letter today as well.

Still no contact or response though, so can't confirm the status of my order. Am now wondering what to do next and what options are open to me.

Will my bank be much help?

The old hindsight says I should have got a credit card alot earlier, still haven't got one but have sent of an application now.

No body else had any problems with Pegasus?

  • Hi
I have been trying to contact them also - I placed an order at the beginning of September, had email confirmation of the order. Then they said it was out of stock and would email me. I haven't heard anything - have tried emailing, phoning and faxing them but no response from anyone. I have asked for a refund but who knows if I'll get one.
  • I recieved a very nice situation explaining email from Andrew Thomas this morning, which is good timing as was heading to the bank at lunchtime. So am now keeping my fingers crossed for a succesful outcome. Watch this space for any conclusion.

I also found this forum on Runners World, where it sounds like there has been alot of similar problems. They appear to have had various forms of contact as well but not a succesful outcome so fingers crossed:

  • I too was fooled into placing an order with Pegasus Fitness. Looks like a reputable site so placed an order in mid September for an 'in-stock' item. When I received an email saying the item was awaiting stock I phoned and spoke to the infamous Andrew Thomas (owner). He apologised for the lack of live stock details on his site and agreed to the cancel the order immediately as I could not wait for the delayed item. No refund was received. An email from Andrew at Pegasus was received some 3 weeks later asking for clarification whether I wanted a refund or wanted to wait for my delayed order. Apologies for the delay were plentiful and promises of considerable discount on future orders.

I have now left several voicemails and sent numerous emails requesting my refund but to no avail. I have just reported it to Barclaycard who swiftly credited my card for the full amount.

Pegasus Fitness should NOT be trusted and I would advise anyone to AVOID placing an order with them at ALL costs.
  • I have started procedures with my bank to try and retrive my money fingers crossed as will probably be a long process as transaction was on a debit card. But have learnt my lesson and now have a credit card for all online purchases.

What amazes me is that the website is still operational, being updated and no doubt taking orders off people.
Is there any way I can make the website close down or put warnings up, the only warning for potential customers currently is if they do a google search and notice and read this thread or one following a similar vein on the runner's world forum.

Any advice on attracting attention and preventing people from falling into giving their money to what I now consider a scamming website?

Thanks for everybodies input so far.

    James
  • Talked to consumer direct today who were very helpful and have given me access to a template letter to send recorded delivery stating my rights and requesting a refund.
They have also had a few complaints from other individuals about Pegasus so are initiating an investigation through trading standards.
I encourage all of you who have had issues to give them a ring on
08454 04 05 06, they are incredibly helpful and the more people who ring them the more they can do.
On the website this forum page and one on runner's world are only two places behind the actual site on a google search of Pegasus fitness so hopefully people will see these posts before giving their money away!
