Had strange problems with my car so took it to the dealer.
Dealer phoned me at about 1pm on the day and said they'd investigated and that the brake disks had somehow become warped and needed replacing, and the warped disks had also knackered the brake pads.
So I phoned the warranty companies 'claims line'. Could'nt get an answer until about 4-50pm by which time I'd had no choice but to tell the dealer to go ahead with the repairs.
Anyway, spoke with Autoprotect who said they couldnt authorise unless I faxed them proof of servicing, and they wanted receipts not just service book stamps. When I told them I couldnt do that at short notice, they said just send them an invoice from the garage.
So, did this, and they eventually sent me a cheque with no explanation of what it covered. Looks like all they paid for is the brake disks, and the fitting thereof. No sign of the brake pads, or the initial investigation cost! Worse still they havent refunded me the VAT part that I paid.
I spoke to them and they said they couldnt refund the VAT because the invoice from the garage was in my name not theirs. Seems a bit convenient to me.
I did try to explain to them that they're procedure of speaking to the claims line (not easy) and then having to have all the service receipts ready to dfax makes it impossible to get stuff authorised on the day and, as such, is unfair. But I guess they know that and dont care !

You're lucky they reimbursed you anything.
They recently refused a claim because the garage had proceeded to do the repairs without getting authority and a claims number from them first! An expensive lesson learned on my part, but it seems that AutoProtect wanted to be involved in every stage of the diagnosis (for which they will not pay anyway) and they would tell the garage what to fix, where and when, or else they won't pay.Snootchie Bootchies!0 -
autoprotect have a policy called customer protect, their so called gold policy isnt worth paper its written on, not governed by FSA either apparently , avoid0

I'm afraid I'm posting simply to add strength to the earlier comment. Avoid Autoprotect like the plague. I had a claim declined because anything that moves on a car is deemed a wear and tear item. Presumably this must include doors, crankshafts and wheels. Certainly in my case it included the aircon compressor.
They're an unpleasant company to deal with, and their policies aren't worth the paper they're printed on. To reiterate the earlier post: AVOID.0
