BSOD= Blue screen of death, a fatal computer crash screen.
I am confused about your little little grey box, I thought this was happening now.. Could it be your sygate firewall warning you that windows is trying to access the windows update site? If so, you should answer yes, and the no may be why your PC slowed down. If it all happened just after 6pm that may be the cause..
Windows update is one of the most important things you can do to protect your PC, if you don't, a new exploit/worm to infect/access your computer may come out, Microsoft release a patch to protect against it, but you will never get the fix, so may get hit with the virus, or attack. When these things happen, they can spread across the world at a rapid rate. The last one I saw, a few months ago, killed 100's of PC's at my workplace, and they all had upto date virus scanners..
I would recommend turning it back on, or at least asking your PC man about it, next time you see him.
If you can post the exact message in the grey box, we may be able to advise what it is..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

cheers for that thought you had gone the pub!!!!!!!
That's the one....... but as I have just seen by allowing them to access it makes the computer really slow... .. I turned it on and it look many minutes to do anything .. .... think I may need to turn it on when X factor starts at 8 followed by I'm a celebrity as it has a backlog of updates to give me...0 -
Providing that what you are letting out is windows update (and not a rogue program), then it should come back to normal when it is finished.. Generally answering no is a good idea, unless you inititiate the connection - e.g. launch media player to play something off the internet..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
