Your location gives away where your undying allegience lies. I remember 1979 but I dont bring that up in present day reasoned arguments!Where wereyou on Black Wednesday. Do you remember Norman Lamont, and his then assistant David cameron ?
It was not Alistair Darling who got you in this mess, but he's getting you out of it.0 -
Prudence springs to mind.

Prudence my foot! Our country now must borrow nearly 50% of GDP to rescue us from the mess that Brown got us into in the first place. Oh yes what heroes they are. Vote the *****s out.0

God there are some seriously dumb people in this country! Why not think a little rather than follow the shiny pretty lights!0

And what, exactly, would the Tories have done differently if they had been in power for the last 11 years? Made sure that the fat cats didn't get any fatter? Made sure that banks weren't allowed to borrow on the money markets and lend to people who couldn't afford to repay? Get real.0 -

LOL !
I suspect that you would all have voted for them anyway. No sensible Conservative voter would be swayed by this overtly political gesture at taxpayer's expense.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

hmmm, glad i'll see my money. well yet to happen. but i won't be voting labour, they did what a government should do, no? look out for it's citizens. it's finding plenty of money to keep the banks afloat from under taxpayers matteresses. only fair that the taxpayer gets the same deal, should be 100% guarantee from all banks for the total sums depositied that operate in the uk. but still no vote from me, all of the parties are rotten.
the should have a vote "none of the above" option if ye reckon that none of them are up to the job! hopefully they'll go away and come back with some decent ideas!! unpaid!! see how much they love serving the people then.0 -

Then you are rather short-sighted and have a poor memory too. Messrs Brown and Darling helped create this mess. They've had years in which to take measures to protect consumers from the obvious excesses of the banks and prepare for the turmoil that was to come. Instead they preferred the 'light touch' of regulation and so when their necks are on the line, they use tax-payers money to save themselves and you praise them for it!
I, you and other tax-payers will have to pay for this. The impact will affect pensions, the NHS, the purchasing power of your money for years to come so please forget the short-termist congratulations and realise that you haven't quite got the lucky break that you imagined.0 -
LOL! The tories wanted even less regulation than we currently have. It makes sense I suppose because those greedy bankers are their friends after all. Then you are rather short-sighted and have a poor memory too. Messrs Brown and Darling helped create this mess. Please don't vote Tories. Vote anyone else but the tories. They will strip our country bare and sell it off to the highest bidder (as is their track record). If you don't want to vote Labour - vote for the Liberals.0
