Network unlock
Hi All
Can anybody tell me if it is possible to find out who the orignal network operator is on a mobile phone if I don't know it. I wish to get a phone unlocked but do not know the original network operator, can it be done through the imei or any details on the box (no it does not say it on the box LOL)
In advance cheers

Interesting.
You shouldn't need to know the original operator to get it unlocked - also are you sure it is locked? Those which come in manufacturer boxes are usually unlocked in my experience.0 -
you can try looking at the settings for SMS + MMS, should tell you which operatorEx forum ambassador

It depends on the method used to unlock a handset. i.e. if it is connected via a cable to a computer, the software should be able to see which locks have been set by the operator, as different operators set different locks.
If you are talking about using a code generator (only suitable for certain manufacturers) you will need the network operator and IMEI number of the handset to generate an unlock code.
It may not be locked, so try various operators SIM's first
:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
If you need a Nokia unlocked remotely you do indeed need to know the network that the phone is locked to. Any cable unlocks or some other engineers code unlocks ( samsung etc ) we don't need to know....
What phone is it that you need to unlock ?
