You can try the free Recuva program which can find and salvaged deleted and erased files, but it sounds like you used a file shredding program, so you'll be very unlikely to get them back.

The whole point of using a secure deletion / file shredding program, is to limit the ability ever to recover a document.

Hi try this - I've just dowloaded it, its free and its recovered one heck of a lot of files I'd stupidly deleted!

Unsure if system restore would work, but if you run Vista, have you tried restoring your desktop, assuming the my documents folder was on there.

Or you could download www.recovermyfiles.com which will show you what it can recover, but you will need to pay £35 for a licence key before you can restore anything.

System restore will not recover user files ,however if you are using Vista you may be able to recover by using vss (volume shadow ) in ultimate or try this for other versions http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/recover-files-with-shadow-copies-on-any-version-of-windows-vista/
