Apologies if this has been mentioned here recently, but even if it it has, it's so important and Money-Saving that everyone with an EGG card needs reminding.
EGG are NOT telling their EGG Card (The Green one) customers when their individual Balance Transfer anniversary offer month is.
To recap, Egg offer 5 month 0% up to 95% of your card limit every year for balances transferred in the anniversary month of opening the card account. They can do normal transfers, as well as to bank accounts, and there is NO CHARGE OR FEE involved.
My wife missed out on hers last year because they did not send an email reminder (even though they claimed that they did), so this year she got in straight away on 1st December!
We've had the card for 5 years, so it's easy to forget - if you have too, send them a secure message and ask what month your anniversary offer is available in.
Finally, if you already have money owing on the card, move it off first!
Good luck - we just transferred £12,500+ at 0% for 5 months into our Virgin One mortgage / current account. That'll save £300 in interest!!

In my case, I had received their email reminder not only once but twice. Do you opt-in their email noticification?Spend smart, and save more.0

I get emails to tell me when my statement is available and other emails from Egg with promotions etc., so I suppose that I'm opted-in. I'll check though.0 -
Does it throw a spanner in the works if you're in credit on your Egg card when you start the SBT? I accidentaly overpaid last month, and my anniversary month is January.0

Shouldn't do. You can balance transfer any credit amount over £100 minimum now if you want to, provided that doesn't take the account into a debit balance and as long as you are able to BT for free [which would mean that they haven't declared a 'special promotion' rate at the present time]. The only 'spanner' I am aware of is that their system automatically prevents you from transferring more than your credit limit in one go - even if you have a pre-existing positive balance - so that you just have to do more than one request for smaller amounts sometimes.tcall wrote:Does it throw a spanner in the works if you're in credit on your Egg card when you start the SBT? It's a while since I've used the facility Milarky, but I *think* you're restricted to no more than 95% of your credit limit, as you say - even if you have a positive balance. A further BT is required to take you to around 99%.Milarky wrote:The only 'spanner' I am aware of is that their system automatically prevents you from transferring more than your credit limit in one go - even if you have a pre-existing positive balance - so that you just have to do more than one request for smaller amounts sometimes.
From memory, if you go for 100%, the system appears to accept the BT, but then you are e-mailed later with a 'failure' message.0 -
They told me via email and I had to ignore the offer as I was in the middle of a remortgage process. Fortunately I was able to catch the offer on the last day. I made about £100 off them before paying off my debt in full with deposits in savings accounts.
It appears that Egg are to be part of a credit card spending, snoop squad ,with Barclays and other minor players. See here.

Inspector Gadget, you mentioned egg do this offer every year on the anniversary of when you opened the card which in my case is March, however I believed they would only do it twice for each customer, I have already taken advantage of it twice already, can someone clarify if this deal is open ended or limited to 2 goes please. I have a large sum on Virgin's 0% and this would allow me to extend my 0% period for another 5 months without applying for another card (its getting more difficult to find 0% cards which offer a decent credit limit, its almost like they know what we are up to
)
Thanks in advance for your helpBring on the Bling!0 -

http://new.egg.com/visitor/0,,3_65809--View_1363,00.html* If you applied after 1 January 2005, you'll get our 0% offer again for up to five months on balances transferred in the anniversary month every year until 2007 - guaranteed.
* If you applied on or before 31 December 2004, you'll get our 0% offer again for up to five months on balances transferred in the anniversary month every year until 2006. And that's guaranteed too.0 -
Egg have confirmed my anniversary month is January (I got the card on 1/1/2005), but didn't answer my question about fees.
Is it true that anniversary BTs (and SBTs) do not incur a handling fee? If someone whose anniversary has come up recently could clarify this, that'd be great.
I'm deciding whether to just shift my soon-to-expire 0% cards to Egg (only £800) or go the whole hog and SBT the rest of the credit limit (up to 95%) to my account.0 -
Cards that were taken before the rules changed don't have a fee. As you have had yours for a year there will be no balance transfer fee.
I think this is only untill end 2006 so your next one may have a fee.

Why not. Then you can pay off the other cards from your account and put the reamainder on deposit.
The moneys there for the taking so take it.
Just make sure you're able to pay it back in 5 months time - don't spend it.0
