Hi, hope someone caqn give me some advice. I am on Orange pay monthly and i am off the india next month for a week, I have spoken to orange and cheecked out the call charges and dont want to run up a massive bill so was going to switch to a pay as you go while i am away and wanted to know if someone could suggest the best pay as you go network to go for.

can't remember exactly which company we were with, think Airtel... Wasn't too bad... Orange over there is not good, don't go for that...

Biggest problem is that between some parts of India you might have to enable roaming or your sim will not work... Best to go to an actual mobile phone store there and enquire...

Yup - AirTel has the best coverage. Some networks only work in certain states, and you end up 'roaming' between states which gets very expensive.

Vodafone took over one of the networks there (Hutch I think). Avoid Tata it uses some weird standard.
