Where I used to work, a meeting was called anytime the management hadn't a clue what to do. At the end of the meeting, they still didn't. I suspect this is exactly the same.

Does anyone have any faith in this lot to do anything but mouth meaningless rubbish.

To be honest I would vote for the Raving Loony Party if they were still in operation

Huh? You mean that's not who's been in charge the last 10 years...?
  • I reckon something will come from this. The banks are knackered if something is not done soon. Nobody is lending to them.
  • Positive things brown could do would be, underwrite short term all consumer and corporate deposits in british banks

Start a toxic debt reverse auction, lowest price seller wins the contract to have their debt bought, etc Letting banks compete among themselves to place the value on government backed security

However the markets think brown is going to do some crappy old labour nationalising plan that will strength them for two weeks and weaken them forever

Right now paulson is britains saviour more then brown

Please do not go giving out false hope. This meeting is about the fall in RBS and HBOS shares and not about Icesave. It is out of their hands until they know more info from the Icelandic government.

He will probably "announce" that the government are prepared to do whatever is necessary to maintain the stability of the system to protect hard working families. :rolleyes2

Yeah, I've never met a hard working family in my life. At most the Dad goes to work & the Mum looks after the house. But the kids just sit around playing Xbox.

I think he's going to anounce the government buying shares in the banks. This will make the price shoot up, at which point he'll buy them and sell at a massive loss in a few months.
