If you published the "Best cure rate" for different hospitals that allowed people to make an informed decision based on the cure rate then that would be a good service.
That same information is in the public domain and all you do is research it as a journalist.
You are not claiming to be a doctor, and people don't think you are a doctor. This website is a signpost to all sorts of offers and ideas. Martin Lewis is an Expert is saving money, i.e. paying less for stuff. Have you read his books?0 -

Don't you need qualifications to be an expert?ThrobsBlackHat wrote: »If you published the "Best cure rate" for different hospitals that allowed people to make an informed decision based on the cure rate then that would be a good service.

Anyone can write a book and make a websiteThrobsBlackHat wrote: »The author of bestselling books and the largest website of its kind?
For the insurance NONE, so how can you be an expert, Switching utilities All I hear is switch to primus again no qualification required. Finding money off coupons? Google maybe? What qualifications are there in searching for cheap insurance, switching utilities, finding money off coupons and reclaiming bank charges?
Reclaiming bank charges you do need a qualification, Be able to read the Consumer action groups site, and be registered with the Ministry of Justice
(Yes I have seen many places that help you reclaim being registered).
And I was merely asking if you needed formal qualifications to be an expert0 -
Not aimed at Martin :-) .. but when I hear the word "Expert " I always think of this defination
What is an EXPERT? Break apart the word.
An EX is a has-been; A SPURT is a drip under pressure
An EXPERT must be a has-been drip under pressureAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
Anyone can write a book and make a website
and 2.5 million active users seem to agree it helps them save moneyAnd I was merely asking if you needed formal qualifications to be an expert
An expert in what? As there are no qualifications in offering information to help people save money how could you need a qualification to be an expert?0 -
The reason DEdna etc you are being called pompous and people are getting annoyed at you is that you are preaching and sounding holier than thou to an audience that have been through and are going through a very harrowing experience.
To borrow an analogy "you are dancing on graves", its not big, not clever and you should show some restraint on a forum where people are looking for constructive advice and support.
You could argue that a smoker who has just being diagnosed with cancer deserves all he gets, but to me it is a much worse crime for someone to start gloating to said person, "ha ha i knew you'd get this, its your own fault i have no sympathy for you etc etc" The mark of humanity is compassion to fellow man, you are not showing any, hence people get annoyed, you have a right to your opinions of course but you should show discretion in your timing of airing it.0 -
Apologies if this has already cropped up.
Transfered all my isa savings including this years allowance into icesave, Once compensation is paid will I be able to transfer the full amount into a new isa account and how do I open one having already committed this years full £3600 to icesave.
Has anyone any ideas on this please0 -
            Sorry
have just read the Treasury statement which gives some clarification0 -

I've been through both the Northern rock and Bradford and Bingley saga so know the drill, and to be fair I think your wrong, I'm not being pompous just some people expect the world. Would they like me to cry for them? The reason DEdna etc you are being called pompous and people are getting annoyed at you is that you are preaching and sounding holier than thou to an audience that have been through and are going through a very harrowing experience.
Something this thread serverly lacksTo borrow an analogy "you are dancing on graves", its not big, not clever and you should show some restraint on a forum where people are looking for constructive advice and support.
Right, go back a few pages and see all the moaners who demand their interest back aswell my sympathy ends there, The goverment don't have to protect you moving your money aborad, but they are. I had some sympathy for the ICESAVE people but it stopped a few pages ago.You could argue that a smoker who has just being diagnosed with cancer deserves all he gets, but to me it is a much worse crime for someone to start gloating to said person, "ha ha i knew you'd get this, its your own fault i have no sympathy for you etc etc" The mark of humanity is compassion to fellow man, you are not showing any, hence people get annoyed, you have a right to your opinions of course but you should show discretion in your timing of airing it.0
