Blinds - need a little advice

    I work in the blinds & curtain industry. If you want to buy a blind from a DIY store then you will pay less, but have to replace twice as quickly! They are rubbish. Roller blind barrels are made out of cardboard instead of aluminium, the mechanisms are flimsy and break in no time. Plus you have the added hassle of cutting these things to size.

    I bought a roller blind from B&Q 13 years ago for my bathroom and it looks as good and performs as well now as the day it was purchased. It is closed every evening and opened every morning so has been used regularly. Hubby didn't find cutting it to size too much of a hassle but he's pretty competent at DIY.

    Sometimes you have to factor in whether you want an item to last many years (so go for quality and pay the price happily) or whether it will be replaced in a few years when the fashion changes/redecorating room/just want a change, in which case a cheaper one which you know wont last forever may be the better option.
