new to boiler stoves, where do i start?

I have recently decided to go ahead with installing a multi fuel stove for heating both my water and the radiators, we currently have an open fire in the living room with a back boiler to heat the water tank and also a central heating system run using LPG. As you can imagine the LPG is expensive to run, so much so we tend not to bother which kind of defeats the purpose. The size of output we would need (according to the manufacturers) would be around 40000 btu to heat the water and 7 radiators, this would mean a ventilation brick, is there any way around this? (a hole in my wall wouldn't help with heat retention i imagine).

Does anyone have experience with installing one of these things from scratch, i think i'll have to widen my fireplace to fit one in which won't be a problem but i'm a bit confused as to how the plumbing would work. Does it work off my original back boiler or would that be removed, and how does it link up to my radiators, would it make my LPG boiler unusable (should i decide to use it)?

I realise that there's a lot of questions there but help with any of the above would be greatly appreciated.
