today i have been notified by o2 that my philips c12 phone will not work from sometime next year and they want me to buy a newer phone from them to keep my number.surely the phone should be free anybody any ideas on how to get some sort of deal from o2 which we would both be happy with?

  • I've still got an old BTEasyLife phone. (Has anyone else still got one?) Mine's still got credit on with 02 and I use it as a contact number for work! That way I keep my other phone free for everyone else!

This one has been posted dozens of times on here, but is still the cheapest decent phone around - and it's on o2:

What a load of utter nonsense. Don't beleive this statement which seems to be designed to get you to buy a new phone.

Only if you like Nokias, and its not cheap for a phone anyways.

Why do you say "utter nonsense" - is this just your opinion or based on some foundation

Perhaps someone with an "inside knowledge" could enlighten us all as to whether this is true - personally, I can't see O2 lying about something like this. It is pretty much common knowledge that the current analogue TV signal is due to be switched off in the not-too-distant future so I can't see why it wouldn't be the case with mobile phones when most people have a digital handset these days anyway and the older analogue phones are pretty much obsolete.

I think maybe because analogue for mobile phones were switched off in 2001 may be a good reason if I recall correctly.

  • I think if it it GSM standard then it will still work, but I am no expert. :snow_laug
