Appreciating Martin......!!!!

Thank you for keeping track of what is happening at the moment.

I don't have maga bucks so the few thousand I do have (nothing like £50,000 or even half...) is my life savings (and long term 'crisis, fund).

Your 'active' advice is so reassuring. My money will stay in Kapauthing and the ISA's with A & L.

Panic causes crisis and real information (not the inflamatory stuff I keep hearing on the TV) is crucial.

Again, thank you so much!

    I agree with luvpump.

In response to the OP - pity that much of the inflammatory stuff is actually on the forums here!

Agree! Thanks Martin. My savings (which are under the FSCS limit) are staying right where they are - in Kaupthing's 1 year fixed deposit.
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

And a chunk of our savings are in Icesave on fixed one year and two year deposits. Maybe it will take that long for the compensation situation with Icesave to be clarified and activated.

If it wasn't for Martin, would you have put your money in an Icelandic bank in the first place?

Therefore avoiding all this concern anyway.

Surely without Martin website MAYBE i wouldn't have deposited any money to an icelandic bank but again I can't blame him at all. It's not his fault if my bank goes bust after *I* took the decision to deposit there. If his website influenced me that's my problem since I decided to buy into it and to blame him is really irresponsible. He says what he says to the best of his knowledge and thats that.

Was having this type of conversation with another IFA today ( not just this site , but the trend towards comparison tables etc) .

Appears in some cases if Icelandic banks do fall then the FSCS will have to cough up some of it... woonder how much they had to put in to the fund to market their products here ... guess thats the levies going up then...

The info on this site -small population of Iceland and reliance on hedge funds- actually got me to withdraw my savings from Icesave...

That's of course not to say my savings are totally safe in the UK.

    Well fingers crossed for everyone...

Funny how I read few (zero) posts from these 'experts' countering the MSE recommendations at the time they were being flagged up as best buys. Devil's advocate or not, it is easy for some to say 'I told you so' with hindsight, it just carries more weight if those people had actually spoken up at the time. Ignore mode definitely on...
