The Argos one isn't in stock at my local branch or on the web, I can't see them getting that one at that price again in time for christmas so I'll have to leave it.
I've decided instead to follow scooby's suggestion and get the one here;

As they are a relatively local (40 miles) company, and i'd rather they had my money than some big store. And the guy on the other end of the phone was very helpful
I also got a 3 way egg timer for Mother, so I killed 2 birds with 1 stone!
Thanks again guys.0 -
Doesn't say if it plays DRM files or not, though you didn't mention if your brother downloads music or not, so it may not apply.Dave. :wave:0

I would just like to add a point to this thread. chodges84, don't fall into the trap of the Apple iPod. They are a waste of money in my opinion - you can get smaller MP3 players that fit in your pocket, cheaper than an iPod. And, who will ever use 40 GB of memory?
I recommend having a look on eBuyer - although order quickly as they tend to sell out fast! http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=13654050929&action=UFNQcm9kdWN0U2VhcmNoUmVzdWx0cw==&cat_uid=45&order=ASC&order_col=sell_price&show=stock
eBuyer have a Sumvision MP3 256MB with Radio for £26.99 inc. VAT - http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=991560 -
Thanks Tiger,
I'm not a fan of IPods for the reason's you mention. Although I admit they do look pretty good.
Personally I use the MP3 player on my Nokia 6230. The 32MB card will hold about 8 tracks which is fine for my 5 minute walk to and from work, which is all I use the MP3 part of the phone for.
I think he'll just be putting CD's on, so DRM is no problem (although isn't that a standard feature on most MP3 players now?), and the 'Pepsi' MP3 player looks a bit groovy, so I opted to get him that one.0 -
2 things:
If buying anything in Argos, BUY GIFT VOUCHERS FIRST, THEN PAY WITH THEM! Why? because unless the offfer is over, buy £50 worth of vouchers and get £5 extra vouchers free!
2ndly, Chodges I have the same phone, what earphones do I need to listen to the mp3 part of the phone? Cheers"If a man says something, but there is no woman to hear him, is he still wrong?"0 -

At the moment you get £5 voucher with £50 spend & £10 with £100.. so cash / crediit card just as good!HLK

My MP3 player arrived this morning as I was leaving for work. I am very impressed, it looks the business and those guys must have sent it out on Saturday, as I only ordered it Saturday Morning. My Mum will like her egg timer as well (she can never cook them properly!!).
Marvo434,
I had the earphones in the box with the 6230, so I didn't need to buy any. The part nunmber is HDS-3, so a pair of those will do the trick.0 -

True, I'm of the same liking, but not everyone is like that. I like to keep my collection on my computer at home, and just update my player every so often. You do get people that like to keep their whole collection portable though, in which case the iPod is ideal.
For the physical size to capacity, I don't think you can beat the iPod. Personally though I'd much rather go for a Nano."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
