Thank you for your apology but it wasn't necessary. I opened the account because I was assured by Mr Lewis my investment was safe and it was top of his list for investments. Clearly I was misled and should not have taken the advice of an amateur. I will rely on my own opinions in future.Sorry Mr Cynical - It's wrong and very unfair of you to blame Martin Lewis for your decision to open an Icesave account. Only death and taxes are certain in this life. You went for Icesave because you wanted the highest possible interest rate. Your money is guaranteed up to £50000 but it may take a while to get it back via the FSCS. If you wanted peace of mind then you should have gone for less interest in 100% safe places like National Savings or Northern Rock both owned by HM Government (incidently, as advised repeatedly by Martin Lewis). Ultimately we as individuals are responsible for decisions which we take.0 -

No need to misquote me and be insultingCan't argue with that. The risks were pointed out to you (and me, and everyone else) and we decided to open an account. You had the choice, you could have withdrawn yesterday, there were options open to you and you chose not to. Plus, you don't even know if you've lost any money yet.0 -
baaaah mr cynical sheep. You obviously had no mind of your own. A follower and not a leader0

In reply to all those that have responded to my comments. It seems as though you are all fully paid up members of the Martin Lewis Appreciation Society and you are of the opinion he can do no wrong. I have better things to do than waste my time on here0

It's not a misquote, it's a way of removing "and anyone else is".0 -
I believe Mr Cynical is here purely to provoke a response, and perhaps should be ignored.0

I must say that my post I made on Friday about me taking my money out of Icesave was met with quite a rabid response. Names were directed at me, and the attitude was we're right, you're a lemming. Well, I made the RIGHT choice and my instinct held me in good stead.0
