3 mobile phone overheating. Company won't help

Hi
I posted something about this last week but I cannot find it, so apologies!
I have a contract phone with 3 (three) which I took out last December. The phone overheats to the point that it actually starts to burn my ear, if I am on it for longer than a minute. It hasn't always been like this.
Over a week ago, I phoned their customer services. They informed me that they were aware of the problem and could replace it with a choice of 2 refurbished phones. Neither of these phones have Skype enabled and I really need this facility.
They told me to phone every now and again, so see if any other refurbished phones had come into stock, which can be made available to me. I duly did this and I also dropped a note to the M.D. (Didn't hear back).
Now, there position is, that they are "doing me a favour" by offering me either of these 2 refurbished phones. When I point out to them, that they do not have Skype enabled, they say that it is not an entitlement and I should count myself lucky.
The phone is so bad now, that I am nervous of using it but I am at a complete loss
as what to do.
Any suggestions gratefully received!

Probable cause is an overheating battery. take out the battery and reinsert correctly.0

Agreed, I would try this or get another battery. Before investing in another battery do you know anyone else with the same phone? Have they not even offered a repair?Freddie_Snowbits wrote: »Probable cause is an overheating battery. take out the battery and reinsert correctly.
Personally I would go buy a cheap 3 Skype phone then try and get a credit on my bill.0 -
i had a K800i that would do this but it was after at least 30-40min of being on the phone :think:Savings Total so far for 2023: £8,062.580

Thank you for all your help!
I have taken the battery out and put in back in. But it was a good thought.
James, it was the same with my phone, when I first had it but now it overheats within a minute of using it.
Having a bad day, I had all my savings in Icesave!0 -
It wasn't a Nokia 6120 classic was it? I had that phone and it was constantly overheating when you used it to do anything for more than 5 minutes.Bought, not Brought0

Yes Bamber, it is a Nokia 6120. Apparently both 3 and Nokia know that it is a problem but they are still happy for people to use them!0

Thought as much, had a friend working for three shortly after I got it and they'd already started getting complaints about them (I think I got it a week or so after it's release) It's clearly an inherent fault. Not really sure what can be done about it or what is required. I'd suspect an offer of a refurbished other model is strictly enough but would also like to think you could get something with the same features as the phone you're sending back.Bought, not Brought0

Thank you Bamber, that is my feeling on it too. I don't need the most up-to-date model that has lots of features, just one that has Skype enabled.
I do feel that 3 are treating me unfairly.0 -
Maybe I should contact Nokia (and thanks for finding this link) but it seems somehow wrong, when my contract is with 30
