  • hi guys i have read the threads with great interest.

i have been conatcted by two companies now regarding this type of miss selling, and getting loans written off.

one company is calle cartel the other is 7 marketing.

they both seem to cahrge upfront fees but the cartel fees are considerabley higher. they are both on th eMOJ site as autherised companies.

they both say that they can get loans and credit cards written off providing they meet certain criteria.

my concerns are that im infinancial difficulty at present through my company not getting paid a subsatncial amount of money last year but feel that both these companies could help me tremendously. how do i know which one to trust when they both charge upfront fees???

How about trusting the office of fair trading : http://www.oft.gov.uk/news/press/2008/consumeralert

There was a media article recently that rubbished the claims made by these companies and basically said that the whole thing is based on a theory that has yet to be tested.

There has been some success on credit cards but mortgages and loans are harder. Also, the debts are often not written off but remain on your credit file as unpaid and in default. So, whilst they cannot chase you for the money or take action against you, they can leave it in default on your file and therefore prevent you from getting mortgages and other credit in future.

OK 'Woody'. Wow, thanks for the insight. You re-posting the same link has really persuaded me to change my views on all of this...:T

Let me put this in CAPS for you. Please read carefully:

7 MARKETING ARE REGISTERED AND AUTHORISED BY THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE AND ABIDE BY THE GUIDANCE AND REGULATIONS SET BY SAID MINISTRY.

    Got that so far....

    ...blah blah blah...

I bet you don't even play rugby! And I'm not your mate either!

Look Chummy, you blithering on at length misquoting all sorts of nonsense will not alter the fact that this scam company you work for resorts to cold calling to try and get business. :naughty:

    Once again for your benefit..
You should be wary of dealing with anyone who:
    • uninvited, calls at your door, phones you or comes up to you in the street or visits you in hospital trying to persuade you to make a claim. This is called 'cold calling in person' and is banned under the new rules
By the way it's actually Dr Woody if we are going to resort to titles

I did play rugby up to county standard for many many years, I have hung my boots and these days I spend my time correcting lies like those you have posted here.

  • Dr Woody please check your facts before replying nonsense. As a SOLICITOR I can say with confidence that this is not cold calling. Please find a better use for your time doctor, as clearly you don't know what you are saying.

I must warn Butler to do your own research before deciding on any course of action with the company.

I would be very cautious with these people. I was suckered in to the tune of £199 and so far they have written me one letter containing incorrect information and "promising" a big refund from one Company where I bought PPI which they have calculated over 7 years. The refund will never happen because I actually cancelled the PPI after about 18 months - a fact which they do not appear to have checked. I might get something but nothing like the amount they are talking about and certainly not enough to warrent any further expense. For the other "claims" I submitted to them in March I have so far had no response at all.

Having sent you the "good news" they then ring you again asking if you to pay more money for a solicitor to persue the case - quite a lot more.

I am now making these claims myself - it's not hard if you follow the standard letters on this site and others and the banks have a statutory timetable of response times which they have to stick to - or you just keep bugging them until you get a result.

I don't really care if they are legit or not - their service is poor, their research shoddy and they are never available to answer the 'phone so you can discuss your case with them. I recommend you avoid them.

Clearly judging the whole service by one mistake is a bit narrow minded. Why didn't you tell them straight away that you had canceled the PPI?...it would have saved a lot of hassle on both sides... I had excellent service from 7 marketing receiving my claim within 7 weeks and 1 day. You will always get mistakes with companies however reputable, I did my research before actually continuing and it was the best thing I have done this year as my family can now have a nice holiday. No regrets at all...

May I just add that I was in stitches reading big_J 's posts...great comebacks! I fully support you as you seem to make more factual sense than any of the other opinionated posts on here.
  • I am now completely confused. I have read through all the threads about 7 Marketing and have to admit I smiled at many of the comments. I could sense your frustration Big J.

I have paid £199 to get the ball rolling with 7 Marketing and filled in a few forms relating to different credit which had PPIs. They have advised me by letter of three where I can make a claim and I have paid them £200 to proceed with one claim and a further £500 to proceed with another claim. They have a charging structute that you can select from and the more you pay, the more you keep of any money that is claimed. As they advised me that I should get back over £10k from one claim, I chose to pay the higher amount so that I get all of the £10k.

I have made a number of calls to 7 Marketing offices about these claims and sometimes get an answer phone which asks my number and tells me I will be called back within 4 hours. I usually get a call back.

I have beed advised that I have a further claim against another company and could get back a further £1300. However, until I see some results from the claims already "in the pipeline" I am extremely reluctant to give 7 Marketing any more of my had earned cash to start chasing this last claim they have advised me about.

It must be about six weeks since they started chasing the first claim and maybe four weeks for the second one. I am getting nervous after parting with so much money. I really hope I get what they say I am owed.

Please give me your comments on the above. I hope I haven't been stupid by getting hooked in.

  • I would suggest 'no win no fee' type companies are safer... Or even safer use MSE Martin's advice, templates, etc and put the leg work in yourself :)
  • i have done the same £199 then asked for £500 to pursue i am of the same ilk as amber i am getting a bit cautious now i wonder if there has been any sucess stories by 7 marketing on here or anywhere i keep asking them but they never seem to give me names dates or even people to ring....i they had or possibly helped me i would sing from the rooftops and be more than happy to help or tell people... i am waiting for a call back and then i am going to ask for my money back or stick them in small claims..p.s i work for a regional newspaper so so they had better comply
  • Hi All
I was contacted by 7 marketing and the sales person if you could call him that stated to me that I would only pay £199.99 for their services. I ask him three times if that would be the amount that they will charge, and he said that it was.
After receiving the information pack with the term & conditions + the forms, and on reading them I decided not to proceed, for the term & condition state that they would take 10% of the monies claimed and a further 10% if a solicitor would be needed, (I bet they always need a solicitor).
Well my point is if they suckered me in by stating some thing that is different and clearly not on their terms & conditions that I would only pay £199.99 to get the monies from payment protection paid to the loan company, then what other mistruths have they told me and what else is in store for the unwary? I think that they want to draw in as many suckers as possible, and surely they will make a lot of money too! (By throwing enough mud at the wall some or in there case a lot has got to stick)

I have paid MY £199.99 AS I SAID, BUT TRYING TO GET IT BACK SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE, they do not answer the phones and they say leave a message, but when you attempt to leave a message they ask for a password, which I have not been given, I returned the Pack with a covering letter stating why I do not want to proceed, I have returned them like they said and still they do not ring or get in touch with me, I have recourse too them by a solicitor, but that would cost me even more money, I don't like to kiss good bye to my £199.99, but there seems to be no other way forwards which would not cost me to get back my own money. They probably will say that they have never received back that pack, I just posted it back to them in there reply envelope and did not record it (silly I know); if they are A honest company I would have had a response by now and my money back. They 7 Marketing up till now have not done anything for the monies received from me

I don't think they are honest, but that is only because I have received nothing from them, and guess that I never will?

    Paul
